Stress usually arises because of lack of clarity of what to do& most importantly where to begin. Assisting your team to take initial steps can be the ice breaker. Also making them feel that you are there to mentor & not judge someone's calibre or performance can play an essential role in decreasing there stress. Besides that ensuring that people are not overloaded with work can also be helpful.

To support a team member feeling overwhelmed, consider redistributing tasks to balance the workload across the team. This can help reduce pressure and make responsibilities feel lighter. Providing resources, such as helpful tools or templates, can also make tasks easier and more efficient. Offering flexible work options, like adjusted hours or occasional WFH if possible. can give them breathing room and improve focus. It’s also important to foster open communication, ensuring they feel comfortable sharing when they’re overloaded or need help. Recognizing their progress and efforts along the way can boost morale and keep them motivated, making the workload feel more manageable while showing that their hard work is appreciated.

Stress is usually caused by not taking proper action promptly on certain things and not speaking up and not saying no to something that cannot be competed on a given time. So educate the team to do proper due diligence before committing any work. Then communicate the findings and risks with the required stakeholders and come to an agreement about completing it on an agreed timeline.
-
Prioritize Tasks: Identify high-priority tasks and allocate them first. Delegate Effectively: Assign tasks based on each team member’s strengths and current capacity. Delegating appropriately ensures that no single person is overloaded. Encourage Open Communication: Foster an environment where team members feel comfortable discussing their workload and stress levels.
-
Understand and listen the concerns brought up by the team member. Feeling overwhelmed can be due to improper management of tasks and if that is the case, it is quick and easy to fix. If not, redistribute tasks to balance the workload across the team. If the person needs a break to get his act together, allow him to cool off and then begin the tasks with more focus.

To help a team member feeling overwhelmed, I'd focus on understanding their workload and balancing it with support and resources. Here’s a structured approach: 1. Identify the Source of Overwhelm: Schedule a private, open conversation to understand what’s causing stress. This may include deadlines, workload volume, or lack of resources. 2. Prioritize Tasks Together: Review their tasks and prioritize based on urgency and importance. Identify any items that can be delayed, delegated, or done less intensively. This can lighten their immediate workload. 3. Reassign or Adjust Workloads: If feasible, redistribute certain tasks among other team members or adjust deadlines. Taking these steps can promote a balanced, productive environment.

A partir daí, é possível redistribuir as tarefas e, sobretudo, priorizar.
