Unfortunately real estate projects going off track are a common occurrence. The average house has about a million pieces all put together by hand… sometimes the situation can be prevented but now often than not, most investors will find themselves with a delayed project at some point of their investment career. To me the key to recovery is transparency. If everybody involved knows what is happening and why, then we can all work together on finding solutions that reduce the impact. Honesty and timely communication is key to success in every industry. I have had these situations. Firstly, it doesn't happen over night. If you have proper achievable timelines you will know when the project is going off tracks. Stake holders know as well but there has to be a genuine reason and not an excuse. Excuses end up in distrust proper reasonings end up in solutions. In real estate industry top.management won't accept their failures and give reasonings which end up with stake holders losing trust. If a blunder is made best is to accept it, learn from it and find solutions moving forward. Every project being different offers different challenges. Best way is to have poper planning and making sure it's implemented down the line

There is an old saying that the truth will set you free, just be open to them on the casualties and that will depend whole fault was the delay from you. If it's from you based on Laxity it won't be easily tolerable but if not from you it will still be tolerable. I'll advise you use emotional intelligence for both situations.

Buyers and Investors need to be periodically updated on the project status and the latest technical assessment of project completion in percentage. Any delay or setback must be thoroughly explained, along with the revised or adjusted timeline.

In today's wired world, the use of cloud based PM systems, each with client direct access portals takes away the possibilities of adverse reactions going unnoticed and slipping by. I always hold a minimum weekly session with each of my clients and together we discuss anything that can possibly set the project back. The client likes the direct involvement and brings an element of management control back to the client.
