Let me make the first assumption that it's not Boardroom politics but one of accountability. Second assumption, get the leader of the challenge (often it's just one main person leading a group) to answer your questions on the legitimacy of the conflicting decision, all along accepting he has legitimate reasons. Thirdly get to the best solution understanding that there are 3 views - his, yours and the right one for the company.

Everybody going into solution mode here, why? First thing is to ask why are they challenging. Figure out there perspective, hell maybe they are even right? They can see a helicopter view, you can see on the ground, together you might be able to make a better decision. Stay open to the possibilities. Ah and btw, that's how you regain their trust and confidence!
