I think everything starts from this point ,setting goals and then reacting to them to see if they are correct , getting achieved or having some conflicts or challenges . Data governance is a vast and evolving area in itself ,so you need to have a long term goal which may get updated in the journey and you should be fine by that. So ,do not panic; just try to adopt to the new technologies ,approaches around you.
