It is indeed very helpful! 2. Another course I liked was Generative AI with Large Language Models from Chris Fregly, Antje Barth, Shelbee Eigenbrode and Mike Chambers - crisp, clear and mentioning fundamentals in the Generative AI space. 3. My third recommendation - Kaggle! Go for it in whatever form. Checking the competition descriptions, looking into the solutions or even joining the competition is a good way to learn.

If there is something that's evolving faster than light speed it would be AI. However, following and updating yourself with every trend is definitely overwhelming. Pick your area of interest and go both broad and deep, for example I always loved NLP and found it interesting, it is now helping me experiment with LLMs and Gen AI foundational knowledge. Knowing how these work in the background will help us but them to best use while understanding the limitations!

I have automated my updates by using LLMs to analyse the noise and filter out what is truly groundbreaking and the latest research and filtering out the noise that is just there to distract and waste my time. It's an easy fix especially if you know what you really need from the updates.

Since AI is an area that is always changing, I make it a point to keep up with the latest developments. To learn more and keep up with how things are changing, I read study papers, follow blogs in my field, and go to talks. By staying up to date, I stay on the cutting edge of AI creation and can make a bigger impact on the field.

The AI landscape changes at the blink of an eye. You must develop a system where you can ensure you are staying up to date on the latest advancements. This does not mean you have to chance every shiny object. Narrow your niche, beta test, tinker, play.

You may wish to put some goalposts in your learning journey with certifications, presentation in key events etc so that you feel motivated regularly to keep going. It is easy to start on this lifelong journey but it is harder to maintain momentum over weeks and months. Learn the basics first - at least a bit - what with relevant stats / maths / programming - learn to smell data and work with data that’s the most important aspect - learn to tell a story - thats a critical skill - all that AI produces will be of no use unless it’s understood by decision makers who matters…

The big challenge today is AI is seen as a technology endeavor. That's very narrow. First understand what business problem needs to be solved. And then figure out how AI can solve it. Many of today's challenges can be solved by AI more effectively than any other technology we had seen. But we need a cross-functional approach to do so. Most Board members and CXOs I talk to are still trying to learn how AI can help them and where to start. Be that enabler!

Remember that AI is just a tool to solve problems. Spending enough time understanding the problems that you're trying to solve and don't focus only on the tool.

Be curious and experiment. I am convinced that you can level up in generative AI over a weekend by doing three things: 1. Invest in ChatGPT 4 subscription 2. Take a few free courses on Coursea from Vanderbilt (Dr. Jules White) 3. Practice with use cases Do that over the weekend and then do at least two tasks daily using ChatGPT. Then try the same task with Claude and Gemini and test the differences.

There is a large risk that the industry is jumping on the hype wagon and is trying to apply AI to anything in the hope that it will stick. It important to identify opportunities and then clearly validate whether AI actually enhances the functionality or user experience.

More than technical skills, we can never stop developing soft-skills, knowing how to communicate very technical things to non-technical people, leadership, teamwork, analytical and critical skills are as relevant as hard-skills.
