Having overall idea on Cloud IaaS services is good, but a specialization is indeed needed in one of the pillars. Usually, I am big advocate of having work experience to learn the most. But in absence of actually working experience one can explore trainings provided by various cloud vendors and udemy kind of education content providers. As a matter of fact, contents on youtube now a days are very mature and teach us a lot. And guess what, they come as free. It could be good starting point before going for any advance trainings.

Just start! Don't worry about the nuances of selecting the perfect cloud platform. Don't worry about learning everything day 1 as it will change day 2. Just get started.

Most often, I was able to compliment my learning with real time events , and helped me to join hackathons. Almost all discussion about Application upgrade or new application development has Cloud as a Pivotal component. Even when customer has no intent to go on public cloud, they still want to develop application with cloud Native architecture to leverage better performance and scale. The application needs to be integrated with many SaaS services to achieve full potential. Many mid and small size customer also wants to leverage IaaS and PaaS to optimize infra costs. Cloud is omnipresent now. Cloud certification is the need of the hour. For most of the certifications , training and training materials are provided by Hyperscaler themselves . There are many other training companies and blogs which provide contents to get these certifications.

While i do agree that person should chose to specialize in one single cloud provider you should in no way ignore the rest. More than often companies will diversify their infrastructure across platforms and therefore it is crucial to have at least basic knowledge of all "big3" and then specialize in one of those. I started in Support, so you can as well. Starting in skillset can be not rewarding at start but remember, why you started. Getting too serious is not the option. Make sure you avoid the situations of getting too attached to company or anything, this will hamper your chances. There are less people on earth who have worked on premise machines than Cloud. I wanted to draw attention to the fact that Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) specialists can leverage their skills and easily expand their horizons to Software as a Service (SaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS). From an end-client perspective, IaaS is not always the best option and may not provide the greatest benefits. Currently, customers are seeking experts available to advise clients on which option to choose: IaaS, PaaS, or SaaS. Therefore, as an IaaS specialist, what I would do is acquire knowledge in PaaS and SaaS services and become a trusted advisor.

Learn Cloud Concepts initially in your career. For example, paravirtualization, multi threading, NAS vs SAN, Storage/Compute/Network Virtualization, OSI Model, Linux, etc. These concepts works across cloud. What you call compute somewhere you call EC2 in AWS. Difference between Vcpu and Cores is also an important concept. Learn CAP theorem. Don't try to scale Database on EC2 without learning CAP theorem. Learn Chaos Engineering. After all these, AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI are just names of different cloud providers, ultimately they all work in the same way and you won't need to worry about which cloud you are working in.

I find responses around IaaS, PaaS and SaaS. However, one key factor to consider is domain expertise. One wouldn't become a successful IaaS professional alone, without understanding the business workflow and needs of a specific domain. IaaS from BFSI vs telecom vs healthcare vs retail etc., across verticals would vary. Core architecture principles remain same. Applying the relevant design principles for specific industry vertical is the key to success. I am confident as I've experienced it and demonstrated the same. Be rest assured, else everything is theory one would learn.
