How can you prepare for the future of video editing?

For the past few months I have heard about the Ai-powered editing tools out on the market that will automatically edit the entire video for you. But to keep up with the latest software development and editing styles, the skill you`ve learned can`t be compered to Ai-Editing tools, when it comes to workflow and shot balancing from one shot to another. Those Ai-Editing tools have there own limitations.

As a video editor it's important to know the new trends and software because they will be in demand. To keep updating yourself you can read articles, watch videos, experiment and learn new things and apply new formats of editing videos.

Speaking of me, I prioritize staying updated with the latest software and technology. I continuously enhance my editing skills, expand my creativity, and develop technical expertise. Embracing new technologies and engaging in continuous learning and networking are integral to my growth. Adaptability, a strong portfolio, awareness of industry trends, and building connections are also crucial in this dynamic field. Be committed to being proactive and comprehensive in my approach to thrive in the future of video editing.

People say that Artificial Intelligence will take over jobs, and with the recent AI based modules that are capable of editing the entire video, it is somewhat impossible for AI to take over man-made video editing. The experience and skills an editor gains after several years of experience, the creativity, the new ideas and techniques, can nowhere be compared to the algorithms provided to an AI based module. AI can help you with basic editing needs, but can never take over the supreme video editors 😉

In my experience having more than area of expertise is always an added advantage. For most of the people that I have worked with, they will expect you to be able to edit audio, synchronize it with clear and catchy visuals (design graphics) to produce something that tells a story even when you are not in the room to explain. That way it's easier and explainanble when you raise the rate of your services.

Stay curious. Don't fear change. Embrace it. We chose this profession because it's fun and we get enjoyment out of it. Whether it's AI or automation, the less admin we have to deal with the more brain power we can dedicate to being creative.

All great editors start by having a solid foundation. Creating a great foundation to build upon will always enable you to take in new information and trends and adapt to them. AI will enhance what you already know and simplify what you already can do. Having a solid foundation will always help you out and have something to fall back on when you get into an editing jam. And you will always get into some sort of editing jam.

Telling a story is very important in the video editing world,but knowing the camera/audio/lights is very important too.Editing is like you are playing with human emotions. This days people spasm is super short and they are so much more video that they watch in the Day, so you are all ways in the run to create something new and catchy. My favorite software is Final Cut 7 but now I use the newest version which I don’t liked as much because it’s so AI and it does a lot of things for you and you don’t have room for creativity as you could in the Final Cut 7. Editing it’s like a Sea with no ending every day you learn something new and telling others peoples story is so much fun because you get to learn something new every time. :)
