If I am covering entertainment, I will look at topics we ranked high in regarding search traffic results for a website and then factor in age, location, gender, and really, any information you can pull from Google Analytics. From there see what's growing and what works. Don't just target high ranking keywords but look for what other topics people are searching for regarding the first question. You cover your hit article, it's following queries, and also, keep users engaged and on the page, all by presenting information meant for that specific audience. Good SEO is focusing on the user's experience.
