Reduce distractions to zero, mental fitness exercises (they take oen minute or two) to get into the focus as quickly as possible, take 5 minutes brake every 25 minutes if the task allows, when switching task drink a glass or water, do one or two mental fitness exercises and go.

Whilst the project will have deadlines, resource thresholds and other external factors, it’s important to constantly review a projects critical path and make sure that the majority of the time spent is on the critical items. Tasks with available FREE float can give way to tasks that have minimal or zero TOTAL float. It’s important that a schedule has a solid logic running throughout and that the critical path is reviewed at regular intervals.

Establish the project and team values to be Safety and Quality first wrapped around by Good Plans (Scope, Cost, Schedule, Resources and Risks) and solid processes. When this practice is followed barriers and distractions can be easily overcome.

Being in this position in my past site job, I have seen and tackle these kind of situations multiple times. You really need to prepare yourself, your team, and most important your plan along with timeline. And then you just need to supervise it for the quality and timely outcome. With approach I've never failed in delivering projects timely and with top-notch quality.

In addition to the above and understanding the main priorities, we must ensure that all requirements and prerequisites are clearly defined before starting work so that there is no need for changes during the work and we can complete the project in the shortest possible time with good quality. Explaining these things clearly and precisely to team members and making sure they know exactly what to do and how before they start can be very effective.
