In my experience from attending online Networking Events, follow up with a personalized message and offering value by appreciating their content first, worked out the best. Also giving recommendation to those who you networked with on LinkedIn helps in building long term relationships.

Always always always make your networking about them. What do they need? Why are they there? What do they hope to achieve? Remember that the vast majority of people at the event have some to sell and not to buy. Launching straight into a pitch will irritate more people than entice them. A simple conversation along the lines of "You mentioned to me that you were having an issue with X - I think I have something that could help you. Would you be open to discussing that further?" Keep it light, acknowledge their issues, offer your help.
