You're facing resistance to new policies. How do you navigate public expectations effectively?

Collecting feedback after implementing any new policy is key to measure the efficacy of the policy. It helps to understand how public reaction over the policy are. Whether they are understanding the policy and taking the maximum benefit of it or they misunderstood and concerned about the policy. Understanding public concerns and answering it and communicating clearly about the policy to public on time gets very crucial that too when Some antisocial elements may misuse this knowledge gap by spreading misinformation and rumors which will be misleading for public and might be challenging later for public administrator to resolve this. Hence, Addressing the concerns promptly & spreading the awareness about that policy to public is a must.

Yeah, sharing ownership among stakeholders and engaging with them prior to policy launch would be helpful to reduce the resistance when policy gets launched. When the policy is inclusive and helping the impacted people in any form would repel resistance automatically. But communicating about the benefits of the policy will always be the priority so that right information goes to the public on time before someone misleads them.

Explain them in easy words that why this policy have been introduced & what challenges its aiming to resolve. While doing so Be open and ready to listen their concerns and take feedbacks from them. Think over those feedback points and If you notice that they have raised some real valid points then communicate the same to them that Yes I agree to these points & will try to include those in upcoming version of the policy. Such act not only reduces resistance but also builds credibility amongst them that Policy maker listens us & they design policies for inclusive development which means no harm to us.
