Building your brand definitely will at some point make you vulnerable to certain people misunderstanding you, but what's important is to understand your brand and be able to explain it as you grow your network. Highlight your brand core values and ensure that those values permeate through out your network. Be quick to respond to issues that are raised that have the potential deviating the brand from its core values. Be open and transparent.

I’ll say something like, “I’ve always respected your perspective, and I’d appreciate your input on this.” Staying in touch regularly, even with small gestures like commenting on their posts, keeps the connection warm and makes asking for help feel natural, not forced.
