From the project management perspective it just can't happen :) What does it mean "the project scope doubled". Is it a new set of features / requirements (so called "change requests")? If you accept all the changes they you would definitely want to set a new project "baseline" across all dimensions - nut just scope but also time, resources, costs etc.

Next step is prioritization - Your teams cannot double their productivity, so you need to help them focus on critical path items via prioritization. Finally, I'd suggest evaluating the commercial impact of this massive scope change; it will likely delay initial launch in some way and this will have an impact.

En mi experiencia como coordinador de proyectos, este es un escenario muy común en la actualidad, sobre todo en proyectos nuevos. Lo ideal es tener implementado alguna metodología ágil que te permita asimilar fácilmente estos nuevos alcances y no afecte la dinámica del proyecto o del equipo de trabajo. En lo personal prefiero SCRUM, ya que de sprint a sprint, se pueden realizar cualquier tipo de alcance, sin que estos cambios incidan directamente sobre el trabajo del equipo. Porque todo lo decidido queda para un nuevo ciclo de trabajo y las tareas que ejecuta el equipo quedan cerradas al término de cada ciclo. 😁👍
