In my experience, effective procedure development and implementation in SMS must account for four key aspects: 1- Procedures should be practical and directly applicable, avoiding the common pitfall of misalignment with the actual workplace. 2- Communication must go beyond emails, utilizing proper channels for clarity. 3- Ensure employees understand the procedures with quality content and adequate training, for practical application. 4- Enforce these procedures diligently, analyze any failure to follow the procedure, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions for continuous improvement.
