Visiting Professor by default as per name , is not full time working as professor but he/she is part time visiting to that institute and based on his experience or expert knowledge he provide the lectures to student which helps them better understanding of the subject.

Every university has a set mindset developed over the years by the academia, researchers, students, etc. A visiting professor usually comes with a different mindset and wealth of experience. He/she gives a different perspective to the usual norms and beliefs to the students. Sometimes visiting lecturers and professors are taken in high esteem by the students and sometimes they are rejected. There is no middle path according to my experience.

A visiting faculty(professor is not a common species in this sector) visits an institute to offer his services in the area of expertise. There is a terminology called CHB (clock hour basis) teachers who can also be considered in this category except that they may not have the similar expertise and experience. A visiting faculty is appointed in following situations: 1) The institute staff lacks the expertise in the subject 2) Subject demands to be taught by industrial/domain experts 3) Institute finds it economically beneficial to pay per use rather than appointing a full-time faculty iv) To fulfil some assessment criteria( for e.g. NAAC in Bharat) Although the USP should be student benefit, you know now what else they bring to the table.

The position of a Visiting Professorship is immaterial which I am holding since last three years. I am not at all concerned with perks and privileges in terms of monetary benefits. To me in the simplest term, "TRUST" augmented with the "COMPETENCE" are the foremost and the last priorities. Undoubtedly, my students are and would remain be the "TOP PRIORITY". My reference material for lessons is always the latest and, most importantly, is unbiased which accords distinct insight to my students to weigh geopolitical situations. The purpose of my teaching is the "DEVELOPMENT OF A PERSON" who is groomed to contribute pragmatically for the welfare of the society wherever he / she lives. My goal is a "LIVABLE WORLD"

¿Cuál es el opuesto a profesor visitante? Pues quizá sea un residente, o un tiempo completo de una institución. ¿Por qué te invitarían? Generalmente porque tienes competencias específicas, que una institución necesita para cubrir un área de conocimiento. ¿Qué significado tendría para un profesor que lo inviten a una institución? Mas allá de poder colocarlo en las credenciales, y de ser un reconocimiento a tu trayectoria, representa una oportunidad de lujo para ampliar la red de contactos, de aprender de otras culturas o idiomas, y a escuchar, a ser empático, y ser un aprendiz, siendo un experto.
