Mentoring is a great way to get past the perceived 'age discrimination' among older workers. An 'experienced' worker becomes a 'mentor' to fellow team members in a collaborative environment. There are so many volunteer opportunities to mentor at chambers of commerce, through Alumni associations and on LinkedIn. Search for 'mentor' here and you can find some amazing opportunities which you can add to your resume and profile

I began mentoring when I was in between jobs, not just to pay it forward but to build relationships with my fellow mentees, and offer to train them in my area of expertise. That led to a new opportunity many years after I started doing this.
