How can you empower youth to become agents of change in their communities?

Youth is the most important asset in any country. But nowadays the youth are destroying their life with the addiction of sedative drugs and using smeartphone.Most of the youth are unemployed the reson behind it * Lack of skills * Lack of confidence * Lack of Decipline Their just certified student they don't got any technical skills although they lost their interest in it. So in my perspective the youth is the backbone of any society they should contribute their self in noble work ,polish their life styles, be technical person, be mannered and tus contribute a good thing in the communities.

One time I was looking at addressing the rate of cultism in a surbub. I noticed that the youth had little or no ambition. The challenge was finding what could change it. Most of these youths had already finished basic education, but we couldn't send them all to school because we couldn't afford to train them all in school. Volleyball participation did the trick. Some of these youths went on to become professionals.

As an individual who manages a local authority, in my experience, engaging with youth is incredibly important. Not just to foster trust, forge relationships and create new ideas but to bring about positive change. Without consulting with, working with and nurturing the youth of today, we cannot ensure the projects delivered meet the community’s or their needs or desires. By Identifying the issues and working collaboratively with this particular demographic, you can stop anti social behaviour, garner interest in their community, use their ideas and give them a voice. It is allows for an informal approach to future succession planning with elections for council seats taking place every 4 years.

I believe the youth need to be taught a real political education and analysis early on. Once they understand that they didn't make good choices, but didn't have any, they will be awakened. With development and training they will move towards a vision for the future inspiring other youth with their story.

Always teach the youth about how fast our world is growing. I always like to say that, not to motivate instead inspire them. They need to get more feedback in advance in each stage of life instead to living in fancy world. So that will help them to understand "How is the real life"

This way, young people can become leaders and improve their communities

Understand that no one is too young to contribute to a team. Once people feel valued or made to understand that they matter, irrespective of age, there is usually a sense of responsibility that takes over. This can inspire the youths to get involved in their communities.

Youth-Led Organizations: Encourage youth-led initiatives. They address disparities, bridge educational gaps, promote equal job opportunities, advocate for affordable housing, and champion social justice causes

Empowering young people to become agents of change in their communities is an important task, and there are several ways to go about it. It's important to provide young people with the knowledge and skills they need to make change. This can include teaching them about leadership, advocacy, and project management. It's also important to create opportunities for young people to get involved in community projects. This could include setting up youth councils or committees, or providing funding for youth-led initiatives. Finally, it's important to create a supportive environment for young people to share their ideas and be heard.

I'm going to stick with my example of the rude behavior at the mall. Although curfews are in place for those under the age of 18 either leave the mall by 6 pm or be chaperoned by someone older hasn't helped. That's because the unrulies are over 18. I would like to see some type of community forum with the teens involved to help identify the problem and let the community hear their concerns.

A participatory plan of action to be developed, including all of the activities, that associated with the 4 Ws + 1 H ( what, who, when, where, and how)

Highlight stories of joy, cultural storytelling and meaning making and how they share love within their community. Connect those stories with strength and humanity of the people of that community, including the students, so that their ways of being are honored and valued. Then you can begin creating space for them to impart how to sustain their culture and what that may look like from multiple perspectives, especially intergenerationally.

The next step is the implementation. Where it is guided by the previous planning process and supported by the timely follow up and monitoring

I like the idea I'd creative and innovative approaches. I can see teens getting really involved in helping to solve the problem instead of being the problem. Again, this is in response to my rudely behavior at the mall example.

Evaluation of the whole process of being tracked, assessing the different activities that have been done with their strength and weaknesses. Summarize the lessons learned and how to be fully captured in the second round of the life cycle. For the impact assessment, it would take some time ( a few years) after the implementations

In my experience there must be encouragement for a safe place for expression. Education and skill development are necessary for them going forward plus SWOT analysis is a good way to get started and also as time goes on revisiting the SWOT to identify the shift. I am great believer in inter generational interaction and mentorship. Young people can contribute massively to their community.

In my experience empowerment is a personal experience and so while group and community projects can empower groups time must be taken to build relationship and facilitate the development of the capacity of young people as individuals first. Helping youth to see themselves as members of families and communities involves seeing that empowerment is not just about personal development and personal success but using inherent power in abilities to participate in decision making first for one self and then within and for the benefit of family and community.

Find action groups in the child's community where what is important to the child is important to others. If you don't know someone who has standing in the place where the child's interest is most powerfully reflected, ask your friends if they know someone or go there yourself and connect with someone who is already 'in there'. Invite that person to come and meet the young person and help the two of you think about how the child can contribute to the valued work the association is already doing. Think together about any supports the young person might need to make their contribution. The 'emissary' is now in a position to welcome and introduce the young person in terms of their interest and their gift. Never miss an opportunity to serve.

Give them a seat at the table and ask them what matters to them and then co create with them. This gives them agency and also helps create an inter generational space

Fund them! Empowerment and capacity building without follow through with money is pointless. Youth are capable of so much but not when they’re not trusted with resources.

Treat them like adults. It’s simple, but teens care about their communities and future. Empower them to make change, mentor and support them. The quickest way to get teens to disengage is to not “see” them as fully capable of being change makers.

Community and Communication have also been my keys to success in working with youth. Many of our youth are eager to participate in something greater than themselves and with the right opportunities, communities and direction, they can soar to unimaginable heights. As a parent, Scout leader and a former afterschool STEAM facilitator, I can attest to the value and power in creating communities that allow for the development and implementation of leadership skills and the value in giving back to our communities. For me, COMMUNICATION, stands out as one of the most important skills to help us Engage, Ignite and Uplift youth of ALL ABILITIES involves a variety of skills. When given the opportunity, Youth can truly exceed our best expectations!

Also interesting to consider what youth want to be involved in and to openly provide opportunities for them to be at “any table at any time” in meaningful and impactful ways.
