If someone in your network is trying to harm your success, stay calm and don’t get caught up in their negativity. Focus on your work, be honest, and let your results speak for themselves. Avoid gossip or unnecessary arguments, but set boundaries with them if needed. Stick to your values, stay professional, and focus on building good relationships with people who genuinely support you. In the end, your actions and character will show who you really are.

Fixing individual’s behaviour in a network will cause and unnecessary stress and engaging with such contacts is not required. You can protect your privacy by doing the necessary security settings in the social media environment and setting boundaries is also crucial if it’s an in person contact. Doing the right thing is more important than pleasing all

A few ideas on this from my side. I believe that people who aim to derail the success of others, are lacking their own definition or targets of success or lack confidence in their own abilities, that's why they focus on preventing others from succeeding. My recommendation is to focus on your own strengths and professional targets, as well keep your unwavering integrity and professionalism. It might be also relevant depending on the situation to raise the awareness of others to those negative attempts. In such situations, I believe one should be politically aware and vigilant but not driven by politics oneself.

🌟 Navigating Tricky Networking Situations 🌟 Networking isn’t always easy—I've faced contacts trying to derail my efforts. 🚫 Set Boundaries: A peer dismissed my input during group discussions. I calmly reiterated my points, making my stance clear without conflict. 💬 Seek Support: When a colleague tried taking credit for joint work, I documented my contributions and clarified my role professionally, earning respect. ✨ Stay Professional: A competitor once criticized my strategy in a public forum. I responded with facts, shifting the focus to constructive dialogue.

If I have a clue that a networking contact is trying to derail my success, I might first confront that person to find out what he/she is trying to accomplish. If I feel that the person is unreasonable and unethical or dangerous, then I will be more aggressive in my approach in order to protect my interests and that of my company or community. The legal list of possible things to do are pretty long to mention here! 🦋😅🦋

What works for me is giving them time. I'd typically interact with people based on the information I have gathered from previous interactions with them. That way I am able to keep such a person at arm's length. This is important because people change, and just maybe if we extend grace to them they'd change and become such instrumental additions to help advance our careers and business.

I will say remain true to yourself and stay focused on your work and professional aspirations. There could be naysayers and all kinds of campaigns. Don't fight them, just be and do your professional best. If however the negativity grows to a point where you are incapacitated to be yourself and stay on course in your work, I would say in one's best interests, leave respectfully in the pursuit of remaining true to yourself and your work ideals.
