I wholeheartedly agree that culture is the key. Establishing and promoting a culture that is responsive to change is another way to describe a culture that embraces creativity. I’ve seen good results when creativity that disrupts the norm is celebrated and rewarded. This approach is especially effective when the business results stemming from the creativity are quantified (and the individuals or teams responsible financially rewarded in a very public way for achieving the results). Over time the creativity that once was viewed as in conflict with the corporate norm becomes the corporate norm.
