To balance different networking styles within my team, I embrace each person’s strengths and create diverse networking opportunities. For outgoing team members, I encourage active participation in events and client meetings. For those more reserved, I offer options like smaller gatherings, virtual networking, or one-on-one introductions where they may feel more comfortable. By pairing different styles, I foster collaboration and encourage knowledge-sharing. This approach allows everyone to contribute authentically, building a well-rounded team network.

I have a different perspective; I have been in a multinational role for 30 years, if you have team members that have conflicting networking preferences, that means you are dealing with a group that thinks different about what approach actually works best. And that is a problem. Your strategy, including the go-to-market part, needs to be clear and understood. Which means that business networking events are chosen upfront, invested in, monitored, and measured. I don't believe in pleasing a team with all kind of different events that each of them like. From golf to snorkeling to tradeshows and sponsored dinners or event galas. That is a toxic and divisive way of wasting budget. Just research what is a best practice top list and prioritize.

To address conflicting networking preferences within the team, I start by recognizing each member's unique style and strengths. Encouraging open dialogue allows us to identify synergies and find complementary approaches that benefit everyone. Next, I set common networking goals that align with our organizational objectives, helping the team see the value of a unified strategy. This approach fosters collaboration and helps create a balanced networking framework that respects individual preferences.
