What are the most effective ways to communicate security risks to the entertainment industry?

This approach not only mitigates risks effectively but also contributes to overall organizational compliance, reflecting positively on the quality management framework.

The big challenge is communicating security risk on their language. We need to find example of non-security risks they are facing and work on a way to use them as example to explain about cybersecurity risks.

Its more about what the audience can connect to, if you specifically can find examples and usecases for each specific industry and showcase that to the audience it will help improve the relatable factor and hence promote fostering the culture of security rather than considering it a burden

In effectively communicating security risks to the entertainment industry, I utilized storytelling and visuals to make complex concepts relatable and engaging. By incorporating narratives inspired by entertainment themes and using compelling visuals like infographics and videos, I captured attention and simplified technical information. Tailoring communication to industry-specific concerns and highlighting potential consequences of security breaches, I fostered greater awareness and commitment to security measures among stakeholders.

In some cases infographics work in some cases they dont. I will come back to the point that whatever is being represented to the audience needs to be relatable, how does one showcase things which the audience can not only process but remember. Sure infographics help, videos & charts even better, but content is the biggest impact factor. Most people cannot relate to security terms and correlate it to what it means in their real life, best example phishing and vishing.

Any message has a lasting impact if you communicate its benefits to the audience / recipients, and bring real-world examples to add credibility to your message. For e.g. if you want to drive home the point around being aware of social engineering attacks (e.g. phishing, vishing) - in terms of the solution, outline a few easy / simple steps on how to identify such activity, exercise basic caution and who you may reach out to for guidance; with the benefit being how you just thwarted a potential compromise of your data or institutional data.

I would like to add that we do have clear notions in the form of a lot of content out there but its effectiveness is questionable. In recent times almost all corporates make it a point to send information about the latest threats, make very detailed and actionable pointers and send this via communication channels. Best example of this is the banking sector, yet we cyber frauds on the rise, so we need to drill the message in a different way, something more viral which people can relate to and understand and will pay attention to

I agree but i feel we need to start small. Celebs who try to sell something that they themselves cant relate to comes out as fake. Security champions among colleagues is the best way to go about it. How can you make this conversation effective enough that it can happen over a social meeting or gathering, the seriousness of it needs to be brought out but not by celebs who cant relate to cyber security in the first place

I agree only when we reinforce our security champions efforts do we see more being added to the cause, its more a win-win factor here.

The topic of OSINT should also be addressed. After all, the entertainment industry thrives on advertising and spreading information and generally on being seen. But OSINT also thrives on this. Therefore, caution is always advised with the type of information that is published.
