What do you do if your motivation dips while navigating the Creator Economy as a self-employed consultant?

When motivation drops, first recognize it without getting too emotional. Write down your feelings and thoughts. This helps you see patterns or triggers that cause low motivation, making it easier to handle next time.

From my experience, admitting you’re in a slump without beating yourself up is a game-changer. Everyone hits lows, and it’s part of the creative hustle. Instead of seeing it as a failure, view it as a signal to recalibrate. This mindset shift can turn a negative into a proactive step towards regaining motivation.

In my experience as a Creator CEO, be and do both the inner and outer work to stay aligned to your goals. This looks like prayer, meditation, affirmations, journaling, EFT, writing down goals, EMDR, therapy, shadow work for the inner work. For the outer work this looks like taking the aligned action to your PRIMARY GOAL and / or Top 3 Focus. This looks like having a dashboard with tools like ClickUp to track progress and results and/or a scorecard as a Creator CEO.

Overwhelm often stems from setting monstrous goals. Break them down into bite-sized tasks. This not only makes the workload more manageable but also keeps you moving forward with a sense of accomplishment. Micro-goals are the secret to macro-success in the Creator Economy.

Sometimes, lack of motivation comes from feeling overwhelmed by your goals. If this happens, step back and reassess your objectives. Break larger goals into smaller tasks and manage your time accordingly. This approach makes your goals less daunting and provides a clear path forward.

Routines can be both a blessing and a curse. When they start to stifle creativity, it’s time to shake things up. Even small changes like working in a different environment or altering your daily schedule can inject new energy and creativity into your work.

As a Creator CEO, for the most part I follow a Sacred 7 morning and night routine with a Top 3 Focus for the day. At the same time, I give myself freedom and flexibility and space for play and fun and I adjust my days. I time block my days as well. I started this in 2024 and this is a game changer. Am I perfect? Hell no. I flounder. I am imperfectly human. I shift. I am humaning. At the same time, I have 10x my productivity and focus from time blocking alone AND my free time. Sometimes, the usual sources of inspiration dry up. That’s when it’s crucial to venture outside your comfort zone. Engage with new books, podcasts, or communities. Fresh perspectives from unexpected places often spark the best ideas and reignite your passion.

As a Creator CEO, I seek inspiration and investment with creators and brands to learn AND CREATEIT. From every piece of content or community I consume, I create a minimum of 3 aligned actions to my goals. Content creation is an art. And art requires new inputs. This can be a new medium, changing your location or taking yourself into a new challenge in your personal life. All of these will serve to help you grow!

Building a tribe of like-minded consultants is a lifesaver. When motivation dips, having peers to lean on for advice and support can make a huge difference. Shared experiences and encouragement from others in the same boat can quickly turn things around.

Regularly assessing what’s working and what isn’t is key. If a certain approach consistently leads to burnout, it’s time to pivot. Embracing change and viewing challenges as growth opportunities is essential in the ever-evolving Creator Economy. Flexibility and adaptability aren’t just advantages; they’re necessities.
