What are the best ways to delegate tasks in a video editing project?

One of the best things I’ve found while delegating is a must give clear goals and expectations. However, you can’t just dictate orders. While you may set clear and precise goals and you may set very clear expectations, your charges may not respond well on their own. You need to check in and follow up. Don’t micromanage or smother your employees, just lurk around and make sure that they truly understand their mission.

You need to let them know what is the purpose of your project. This is so that they would know how to do their work accordingly. You need to also let them know what is the scope of work involved in your project. This is so that they would know who is supposed to be responsible for what.

When delegating the tasks, you should asign the tasks based on skills and preferences. This is so that the team members can do their work properly. You should give the tasks that are according to their specialties. For example, if it's related to photography, you should give it to a photographer. Coaching builds confidence and loyalty. Thru coaching you will learn the strengths and weaknesses of your people, which in turn will help you delegate the right tasks to the right people.

You should always communicate clearly and frequently when you are doing your video editing project. This is to avoid any misunderstanding. You should have a meeting with them at least once a week.
