A game-changer I've observed in terms of needs assessment is the democratization of solution development. Low-code and no-code apps act as equalizers, enabling individuals regardless of their technical prowess to contribute to problem-solving and innovation. This not only accelerates the ideation to implementation cycle but also enriches the solution pool with diverse perspectives.

Low-code/no-code apps fuel innovation and teamwork. They empower anyone to build solutions (democratization!), enable rapid testing of ideas (prototyping!), and make collaboration a breeze. This lets everyone focus on business problems, not complex coding. To supercharge this, encourage experimentation, provide training, and celebrate creative uses of LC/no-code tools!

Having clarity on what should be streamlined is of utmost importance. In my experience, I have seen simple pen-and-paper flowcharts, to start with, giving more clarity on this. Helps to identify your bottlenecks, high risk failure points etc. It is also crucial to understand the user journey when building business apps.

Treat an automation project like a startup - make it an iterative process. As you would when you are building a new startup... 1. Talk with your customers (internal stakeholders) 2. Understand their pain point (manual process) 3. Solve that problem (automation) But most importantly, do it in small increments. A startup shouldn't try to take on Amazon or Meta from day 1. Similarly, you shouldn't automate the end-to-end process with v1. If it's a process spanning multiple teams - start by helping just one team. If the process requires a dashboard as the final output, try building it in Google Sheets first. etc. In essence, approach automation with the mindset of a startup—start small, iterate fast, and scale smartly.
