Another way to respect peers in a group setting is to avoid negative feedback about them or their work when in the group setting. Try to be sure any feedback is constructive and about the work or topic. If it is feedback for an individual that might be perceived as negative without context, it's always better to share one on one. A good rule of thumb is to share praise in public and negative or perceived negative feedback in private.

The elements included in this article are equally applicable whether the discussion is among peers or you’re leading a team. The additional complexity that sets apart a peer group discussion is precisely the fact that it is a peer group so every one is presumably equal and no one has “authority” over anyone else. In this situation one has to tread carefully and sensitively - because overtly taking charge of things or driving discussions in a particular direction might be resented by some. So for example even while encouraging everyone to participate, one must do it subtly so as not to seem patronising.
