The ITU Regional Workshop
Towards Universal and Meaningful Connectivity for Arab Region
will take place in Algiers, Algeria, on 11-12 November 2024. The event will be conducted in hybrid format, allowing both in-person and online participation.

- Support countries in mapping broadband infrastructure and identifying gaps.
- Provide insights into sustainable technical, financial, and regulatory solutions for affordable connectivity.
- Engage investors and stakeholders in collaborative efforts to bridge connectivity gaps.
- Serve as a platform for knowledge development and interactive discussions on network expansion and best practices.

Format
The workshop will connect Member States, policymakers, tech industry representatives, and development organizations through a hybrid format. It will feature high-level discussions, technical sessions, and interactive panels to share knowledge and experiences.
Complementary Training Workshop|
Following the regional workshop, a two-day physical training workshop will be held
exclusively for Algerie Telecom staff from 13-14
November 2024 to meet their request for assistance with infrastructure
mapping. This training is part of the Broadband for the Unconnected
project activities.
Background
Equitable ICT connectivity in the Arab region is a significant development challenge. Many are excluded from the digital economy, necessitating strategic reviews by policymakers, development partners, and investors.
"Universal and Meaningful connectivity" is essential, as it allows users to have a safe, enriching, satisfying and productive online experiences at an affordable cost. The ITU Regional Office for Arab States is organizing a regional workshop to address these issues through innovative approaches, hands-on experience, and evidence-based solutions to bridge connectivity gaps. The event will offer interactive discussions to help participants implement best practices in their countries.
