IIT Bombay celebrates Teachers’ Day by conferring
- IIT Bombay International Award for Excellence in Research in Engineering and Technology
- S. P. Sukhatme Excellence in Teaching Awards to 14 Professors
- Dr. P. K. Patwardhan Technology Development Award
- C1973 Research Excellence Awards to 16 Professors

Commemorating the birth anniversary of noted philosopher, educationist and statesman, Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) celebrated its Teachers’ Day at the Institute campus. Lieutenant General Dr. Madhuri Kanitkar (Retd), PVSM, AVSM, VSM, Vice-Chancellor of the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik, was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

The function began with a welcome address by the Institute’s Director Prof. Shireesh Kedare followed by a speech by the Chief Guest.

The Teachers’ Day function witnessed the felicitation of Prof. Rohit Srivastava, recipient of the prestigious Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar - Vigyan Shri for the year 2024 in Technology and Innovation and Prof. Vikram Vishal recipient of the prestigious National Geoscience Award - 2023 in the field of Applied Geology.

The presentation of awards included the IIT Bombay International Award for Excellence in Research in Engineering and Technology;  Professor S.P. Sukhatme Award for Excellence in Teaching, Dr. P. K. Patwardhan Technology Development Award (2023) and the C1973 Research Excellence Award. 

The IIT Bombay International Award for Excellence in Research in Engineering and Technology (instituted by Mr. Sandeep Naik and Mr. Shantanu Rastogi) was conferred on Dr. Tony Q, S. Quek, IEEE Fellow, Fellow of Academy of Engineering Singapore, Cheng Tsang Man Chair  Professor, ST Engineering Distinguished Professor, Director, Future Comms R&D Programme, Head of ISTD Pillar, Singapore University of Technology and Design, in commendation of his outstanding contributions to Next-generation Wireless Networks.

The Chief Guest Lt. General Dr. Madhuri Kanitkar, conferred the Professor S.P. Sukhatme Award for Excellence in Teaching, Dr. P. K. Patwardhan Technology Development Award (2023) and C1973 Research Excellence Award, to select faculty members as a recognition of the contribution made by them in the field of teaching and research.

Dr. P. K. Patwardhan Technology Development Award (2023) was awarded to Prof. Manjesh Kumar Hanawal, Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research in recognition of his innovative R and D work on ‘Vajra- An Indigenous tool for endpoint security’ and Prof. Rajesh Patkar, Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering in recognition of his innovative R and D work on ‘A Bio-stimulant based novel approach for enhanced Yield and Nutritional Value of potato’.

The C1973 Research Excellence Award (Award instituted by the Class of 1973 during their Golden Jubilee Reunion in 2023) was awarded to:
