IIT Bombay and CSTT Sign MoU for Project Udaan

<p>The Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology (CSTT), the subordinate body functioning under MoE, authorised for the preparation of scientific and technical terminology in Indian languages has signed an MoU with IIT Bombay, represented through UDAAN Project: An Indian language end-to-end translation ecosystem for breaking the language barrier in education, initiated by Prof. Ganesh Ramakrishnan.</p><p>The collaboration focuses on using the scientific and technical terms in Modern Indian languages (MIL) prepared by CSTT for machine learning, for better access to the diverse population of the country. It involves the exchange of resources and expertise aimed to increase the use of technology in MIL. This will result in an increased digitalisation of the technical dictionaries/textbooks/glossary books in various modern Indian languages.</p><p>This entire initiative leverages and will also further contribute to the aim of #Bhashini (https://bhashini.gov.in/), the National Language Transmission Mission led by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (#MEITY).</p><p>The MoU was signed by Prof. Girish Nath Jha, Chairman, CSTT and Prof. Milind Atrey, Dean (R&amp;D), IIT Bombay as head of their respective organizations along with Dr. Shazad Ahmad&nbsp; Ansari, AD(S) and Shri. Jai Singh Rawat, AD(S) from CSTT.</p>
