Spotting The Real Nocturnal Stars in Costa Rica
Costa Rica is known for many things - chocolate, coffee, adventure, but above all else, its wildlife. During the day, travelers can spot a myriad of monkeys and birds, though the rainforest truly comes to life after the sun has set. Located in the off-the-beaten-path region of Ojochal, Hotel Three Sixty beckons travelers to discover the stunning bounty of nocturnal animals with its two-and-a-half-hour Night Tour. A guide leads guests through the hotel’s hiking trail with flashlights and the hopes of spotting some captivating creatures, such as two-and three-toed sloths, screech owl, red-eyed tree frog, Mexican Hairy Dwarf Porcupine, hundreds of nocturnal bat species (out of the 117 bat species in Costa Rica, 80 have been spotted on the Osa Peninsula near Ojochal,) and various snakes and spiders. Explorers should also keep their eyes peeled for some of the more elusive nocturnal beings, which include the Tapir, Puma and the strikingly spotted Ocelot and Margay. Post-tour, travelers can rest easy in their bespoke room at the adults-only hotel.
