Doja Cat looked equal parts glam and grunge in a sultry sequined ensemble, courtesy of Matthew Williams for Givenchy, at the 2020 MTV European Music Awards last night.

For the rapper's showstopping red-carpet appearance, she wore a sheer embellished black gown with matching arm-length gloves, high-rise briefs, and a bandeau bra top. She paired the look with purple thigh-high boots and archive diamond jewelry from Neil Lane Couture. As for her evening glam, Doja wore neutral-toned eye makeup with exaggerated winged-out liner, '90s-inspired cocoa-flushed cheeks, and a coordinating matte brown lip executed by makeup artist Adam Burrell. The "Juicy" singer took a punk-inspired approach to her hair as well, opting for blunt chopped bangs and textured layers styled by Jared “JStayReady” Henderson.

"As far as my carpet look, [my stylist] Brett Alan Nelson understands who I am as an artist and always finds the best stuff! This Givenchy moment felt so different from my past carpet [looks], and it's the biggest brand name I have worn yet," Doja tells BAZAAR.com. "It makes it even more special that it is from Matthew Williams's first collection with the brand. I have always been a fan of his work with Alyx, so I am beyond excited to be the first to wear this new collection on a carpet."

For the singer's surprise heavy metal remix of her hit song "Say So" on the EMAs stage, Doja switched into a tattered lace dress created by Alan Nelson in collaboration with Tia Usher, which she paired with wet slicked hair, heavy smoky eye makeup, and blue contacts. During the set, Doja and her band appeared in a soft, lush field of daisies, juxtaposing the hard-rock rendition of her signature song.

"Brett and I wanted to create something that felt fresh and new. For me at least, next to my past performances, we always want to keep people guessing. I have always loved all different types of music, and for this performance, we wanted to capture something that had elements to the horror punk, metal, emo, and early-2000s rock vibes," Doja says.

"Obviously, I am sure you caught the nod to The Ring. I wanted this to feel spooky but more high fashion. The look was created by Brett—him and his tailor, Tia Usher, made this look on my body, and then we soaked it, ripped it up right before we started filming."

Doja went on to win Best New Act at this year's EMAs. The feat followed her win for PUSH Best New Artist at the MTV Video Music Awards back in August.
