    shelf one- the night watcher

I’m not safe & don’t know if I’ll ever be safe.

    radio silence

In the movies, silence is the perfect family home.

It’s the small table in the middle of the kitchen

with four chairs around the round table.

    The tables

    & chairs

    & cutlery

    & radio

    are pastel pink & blue.

    The house has four stories

    with a silver elevator

next to the echoing wooden stairs.

It’s the type of house to be in a home magazine

    you would skim through

as you shop for the ideal dark brown rug,

& the red & green jealousy in the form of liquid goo

creeps inside you like a vicious lion

    hunting its prey.

    You’ve always wanted
