With over fifteen years of experience coaching parents and working with families, Sheryl Gould understands how overwhelming and stressful it can be to monitor a child’s internet usage for their safety and mental wellbeing. I parented my five children (now grown) in a time when ‘tech’ as we know it now was just coming onto the scene. How I wish my husband and I had had this insightful and practical book to guide us! It’s full of wisdom, information, and practical how-tos to initiate screentime guidelines for your family, help keep your kids safe online, and strengthen (not strain) your relationship with them in the process. I highly recommend this for parents, grandparents, and teachers—anyone whose life includes a tween or teen!
- Arlyn Lawrence, Author of Parenting for the Launch and Prayer-Saturated Kids
"SOS! is the guidebook parents need to change the way they are helping their tweens and teens manage technology. This is the first generation of kids to be Web-enabled at every juncture, and it’s been challenging for parents to find the balance. I don’t know a mom or dad that isn’t exasperated with their teen’s screentime and isn’t searching for a way to reduce the tension over tech use. I love that this book doesn’t solely focus on getting children off devices, but instead encourages parents to have important conversations about technology in general. We have to do more than just simply telling adolescents to put their phone down, and fortunately Sheryl gives us the tools to keep our kids safe, teach them an important life skill, and build a stronger relationship."
- Whitney Fleming, Author and Founder of Playdates on Fridays
Technology might be the most significant battlefield we face as parents when raising children in popular culture today. Thankfully, Sheryl Gould has written this guidebook to help moms and dads proactively lead their children regarding screen use. As a mom of six, I appreciated how Sheryl walked us through setting our family tech rules around our core values. Her book also contains helpful questions, tips, tools, and resources and is a must-read for all parents of tweens and teens.
