Aids in the Church - Linda Davis
Chapter 1
The A List
There was a priority A list. It was created with your many names attached. Such as Authur Ashe, who was instrumental in the formation of the Association of Tennis Professionals. He was elected into the Tennis Hall of Fam. He had contracted the HIV virus from a blood Transfusion during heart surgery. Then there was Liberace who loved his rings and music. He had contracted the HIV virus, and his health deteriorated. Last but not least Rock Hudson, who was suave, sophisticated and stunning to most of Hollywood fans. All of these individuals held on for life against their greatest challenges AIDS. Therefore, please permit me to get started with the cares and concern’s of life’s affairs. These affairs have affected some individuals who have a need to know the facts. Individuals need, to be protected from AIDS/HIV as well as other diseases. There are individuals who have had to succumb to their partner’s sexual aggression. In the process they became infected with AIDS/HIV. Currently this has happened too more than one individual. When a person refuses to protect you or themselves from these kind of circumstances one is put at risk. There comes a time when a final decision needs to be made for one’s life. Since this is a fact of life and there are differences of oponion.
One might have the need for additional resources. Being diagnosed positive for anything major can have a devastating effect on any individual.
Therefore it is imperative that regular check ups are mandatory in one’s life style.
Medical check ups are very important in case a man and woman are expecting a child.
One would then need to seek out preventive services. Care for the child as well as one self.
Most church’s practice abstinence. However, people are human and get caught up in relationships that are not always in their best interest. Our bodies are temples and people forget to treat them as such. Since there are additional A List ailments such as Cancer, Strokes, Hepatitis B, in addition, to HIV/AIDS. Any description regarding impairments requires immediate attention so that one can begin to live without interferences within the body function.
Your name is now among millions of other names from every state. Added onto a longer list around the world. It’s important to understand that you are not the only one in any of the great divisions on the globe. Presently the emotional state of these individuals are at risk. The tone of death is knocking on the door. It is time to advocate for yourself. There are many different treatments available for individuals. However, each treatment plan will affect individuals differently.
African - Americans appear to be at the top of The A List. One would need too first assess the risk and then go for treatment. Make an appointment to talk with your medical doctor.
Then search for a good friend who won’t reveal all of your personal business.
Which is an individualized situation? One that you have never experienced before so make sure you can trust that individual. Or you can find other resources with care groups. These individuals will have the same situation as yours.
In the end death is not a MYTH it is a reality for all individuals. Therefore, individuals have to start taking responsibility for their lives as well as ones emotional being. Your community can affect your mind set. Be that of wealthy or in a poverty-stricken state. No one can really express how you feel but God, and you. Although one’s behavior can become that of denial when their health soars to a crisis. Their emotional responses can be disregarded.
Which can take a toll on their attitudes? It can appear that no one has compassion for such individuals as themselves. Even though the other people in society do not know their whole story.
These specific patterns of behavior behind each individual life pattern can be traumatic.
There are difficult and frustrating situations presented with being diagnosed of HIV/AIDS.
These are some of the symptoms in the community that I have seen personally. Since I worked in the field of social work. Sometimes the community can contribute to the environment. Emotional imbalances play a role when an individual is under stress. It is imperative that you are aware of the facts so that things can change for (you) the individual who is HIV/AIDS infected.
There are different types of emotions here are some Verbal Signs:
1- Using an angry or threatening tone of voice.
2- Making verbal threats.
3- Making unreasonable demands.
4- Talking irrationally or not making sense.
5- Talking about weapons or using them for revenge.
6- Cursing, shouting or screaming.
7- Defiantly challenging rules or authority.
8- Making lewd, sexual or degrading comments.
Here are some Physical Signs:
1- Angry looks and staring.
2- Clenching of one’s jaw, or fists.
3- Tightly gripping objects.
4- Nervous pacing or restlessness.
5- Violent gestures such as beating pounding, or breaking objects.
Then we have Anxiety and Fear, Death, and Grief. One should not ignore or neglect these feelings. One might need to consider seeking professional assistance of a counselor or therapist.
Especially if you suffer from any negative symptoms as a result of your diagnoses. Distinctively if you’re directly involved. Don’t hesitant to enquire about assistance if needed? Most services are helpful when a person admits they have a need. Then you start the healing process. In addition, this is a course you have to be willing to take. No one can force you into your reality.
The key is to understand your boundaries so you can eliminate such as the following:
1- Murder
2- Bombing or Arson
3- Stalking
4- Rape ( watch in your neighborhoods so you can be safe)
5- Suicide
6- Physical aggression ( slapping, kicking, punching, etc.)
7- Kidnaping
8- Use of weapons
9- Destroying or damaging property
10- Threats to do any of the above
Then there are those individuals that one gets involved with and they already have the following issues such as:
1- History of Violence - these individuals tend to become violent repeatedly.
2- History of Emotional or Physical Problems - individuals who have emotional or physical problems. This individual stands a greater chance of becoming violent. If an individual is on medication, this can affect their thought pattern.
3- Use of alcohol or other drugs (especially at their leisure time).
4- Already has the disease and is willing to destroy another individual life.
It is a proven fact that alcohol and other drugs greatly contribute to violence in general. Last but not least there are some individuals who suffer from feelings of insecurity about themselves.
Who is more likely to become over whelmed by stress?
The results could be a tendency for violence.
1- Every individual has perception this knowledge makes one aware of them selves and their warning signals.
2- Your instincts are important.
One should take all threats seriously. Never assume that only certain types of people may become violent. Pay close attention to what others around you say and do. Being able to spot verbal and physical warning signs before they turn to violence. This is a reality for most individuals.
Finances will also cause one to have stress when provisions for individuals are not met.
Who will be there for you if anyone? Once you have calmed down after a couple of weeks/months ask yourself. What happened to their dreams of success? Only God knows the answer to that question. Time is of the essence for many individuals. It is your chance in life to make the most important decision of all. Whom will you serve? Where will you spend eternity? Does it really matter? Yes it does matter whether you are on the (A) List or not. The systems purpose is not about your financial support. Those individuals who have had to experience or go through the welfare system. For one reason or another will feel the effects of waiting for a certain amount of time for eligibility. There are times when an individual has to apply for temporary services because of a need for the following. That purpose can be Rent, Con Edison, or Food Stamps. Individuals are already aware of the decisions they have made for their lives. These individuals also recognize that their complaints may not get noticed. These individuals should become aware that this system will not be a means of economic policy for a lifetime. Traditionally an individual needs some kind of work history. In order to contain resources for the best medical care.
Individuals have to put their priorities of health care in order. In addition, that diagnosis of AIDS/HIV will need a careful regimen to maintain good health. Your own individual achievement will help you maintain a better quality of life. Which will be beneficial for you alone, or if there are other individuals involved? After all of theses services have been put in place. There is another aspect of life that will need to be addressed.
The (J) List is the most important of all because your soul is important. Repentance is the key. Yes we all have sinned and
