About this ebook
A job that puts food on the family table is different from a career that leaves a legacy for your grandchildren to marvel at around that same table. Yes, you need to pay the bills now. But if you’re not working toward a great career, you’ll pay a larger, more existential price later. As the saying goes, you can get straight A’s in school and still flunk life. Likewise, you can have the right job, the right benefits and the right paycheck – and still flunk your career. A great vocation is not the sole domain of the rich and famous, the people you hear or read about, the people others envy. You can have a great career regardless of the number of zeroes in your bank account.
How? You have to rethink most of what you know about having a job, keeping a job, getting a job or inventing a job. Do you satisfy with your current job, or just do it because you need to pay the bills? It’s time for you to ponder about this matter, and this book will help you by introducing Career Strengths Discovery Model. This model is developed on the basis of some of the most comprehensive theories and up-to-date psychological researches.
The core belief of the model is that your career choice should be based on your own strengths instead of improving the weaknesses. Many people think that self-development means improving one’s weaknesses to be a better person. It is true if your goal is to be good enough. But to be great and create your dream life, you need to switch your focus from weaknesses to strengths. As Marilyn vos Savant said: “Success is achieved by developing our strengths, not by eliminating our weaknesses.”
Career Strengths Discovery Model comprises of four stages, from the very first strengths analysis to help you to understand your potentials, to utilizing them to get your dream job, and finally accelerating your success in the chosen career through exploiting and developing your strong points. They are:
Stage 1: Find your strengths and your career options
To come closer to the career you want and move further away from work you do not want, just remind yourself of the strengths that are inherent to your being.
Stage 2: Make your career choice
When facing career choices, whether big or small, you will discover that you have a multitude of options. It can be difficult to pick one, especially if you have no idea what you want to do... or if many things appeal to you. The stage includes many actions that you can take to make a firm decision of your chosen career.
Stage 3: Get your dream career
Think your dream job is unattainable? Think again and again. With the right forethought and preparation, you can make the move. The next stage in the model is to map out your way in your new career. Let's take more and more effort to achieve that.
Stage 4: Accelerate Your Success
Getting your desired job is great, but still not the end of our journey. In the fourth stage, tons of tips and strategies are introduced in order to develop your strengths and help you go to the top.
The Career Strengths Discovery Model is designed as a tool for your career. No matter which group you may be falling in, overall, the model will help to boost your confidence, find your strengths and create the best opportunities for your career development.
So, are you ready to start your career journey?

Career Strengths Discovery Model - Kelvin Foo
FOREWORD
As a certified Career Coach and a trained Myer Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) practitioner, many candidates have been requesting us to write a concise book on discovering the job we love.
Now based in Vietnam and Singapore, we have had the privileges in coming across all sort of people, be they students, fresh graduates, mid-career professionals, lay-off personnel, or retirees etc., and how our programmes assist them to discover themselves and more importantly better themselves in their pursuit of a better career.
This is not rocket science, but it does take a lot of commitment, perseverance and honesty to truly face ourselves, in the pursuit of understanding our personalities, values, interests and our ups and downs in our lives, so as to find the common point which points to a certain set of characteristics of a career which match us.
I hope this book will help you like it helps so many others, and special thanks to our co-writer, Anna Vu, a Vietnamese herself who went through similar path of self-discovery and now wants to touch people’ lives through her bare words in this book.
This is precisely why I set up KF Group in the first place, where I strongly believe in personal development and we aim to touch 500,000 lives in 5 years through our series of programmes and products.
Without further ado, I present this flagship book of KF Group, and I am sure you will find value of this book to your lives.
Best Regards,
Kelvin Foo & Anna Vu
