What Are Boundaries?
What exactly is a boundary, when it comes to relationships? Basically, a limit is a limit or area in between you and the other individual; a clear place where you start and the other individual ends. Think about it as a fence in your backyard. You are the gate keeper and get to choose who you let in and who have to stay out, who you let into the entire backyard, or who you instantly evict. You may still be keeping them at arms reach; however you are also giving them a chance to show their credibility to you both physically and emotionally. The purpose of setting a healthy boundary is, naturally, to safeguard your interests and well being.
Personal boundaries, is simply like the No Trespassing sign, specify where yours end and others start and are determined by the amount of physical and psychological space you allow in between yourself and others.
Individual boundaries assist you in deciding what kinds of communication, behavior, and interaction are acceptable.
It sends out a clear message that if you violate that boundary, there will be repercussions. This type of boundary is easy to imagine and comprehend since you can see the sign and the territory it safeguards. Self boundaries can sometimes be more difficult
