Evernote for Self-Publishing - Jose John
CHAPTER ONE
Why Evernote is a great tool to power your Self Publishing business
Challenges in your self publishing business
To succeed in the self publishing business requires you to master a range of tasks: gauge what your readers want, create good content, collaborate with others for specialized inputs, market your books and gather feedback, and continuously build your portfolio of books. These activities are usually managed in a disjoint manner, relying on a range of software tools, email clients, web apps, and often results in an mess of files and folders on disk. This is not a fluid way to work.
Publishing is a complex business, and in an ideal world, we would have robust tools for the following activities:
Evaluate new book ideas: capture book ideas, assess market potential, creatively develop each idea
Write books: use your favorite workflow style whether it be to outline first, or a flexible add-structure-as-you-go approach
Market books: track promotion and advertising strategies, collect reviews & feedback, SEO for your books
Manage your book projects: schedule your work, prioritize projects, ensure steady progress, manage writing & editing tasks
Build a knowledge base: technical requirements of book stores, writing and marketing advice, templates & tools, workflow refinements
Typically, self publishers choose the best
tool for each activity, and find a way to make it all work.
How Evernote’s strengths can solve your key challenges
