About this audiobook
"An absolutely delightful treat to savor! Relatable, sexy, and beautiful." —Elena Armas, New York Times bestselling author of The Spanish Love Deception
Summer won't last forever.
Sage Byrd has lived in the coastal town of Spunes, Oregon (not to be confused with Forks, Washington) her entire life. She's learned to love her small world, with the misfit animals on her hobby farm, and her friendships with the town’s inhabitants. But when her 5-year relationship ends and her ex, town-golden-boy Ian, suddenly gets engaged, Sage needs a win—something that will convince everyone to stop pitying her all the time, and to put Ian in his place. The Festival of Spunes, the town’s annual summer competition, would be the perfect opportunity. She just needs a partner.
Fisher Lange was a hotshot chef in New York City until the loss of his sister left him numb, grieving, and responsible for his teenage niece Indy. When Fisher loses his Michelin star along with his love of cooking, his boss sends him and Indy to Spunes on a much-needed summer sabbatical to consult on a restaurant opening. But when clashes with the townspeople threaten his last chance to redeem himself and a kiss with his new neighbor Sage leads to dating rumors, a strategic alliance might just be the best way to turn things around.
A deal is struck. Sage will improve Fisher’s image in the eyes of the town and remove the roadblocks he is facing with the restaurant, and Fisher will be Sage’s partner for the competition. But as their pact quickly turns into steamy rendezvous, emotional wounds begin to heal, and the pair tries to savor every moment, they start to realize that summer is racing by much faster than they would like...
Filled with spicy summer fun, small-town charm, and Big Feelings, this highly anticipated romcom is Tarah DeWitt’s best yet.
"Simply unputdownable. A top read for me this year!" —Elsie Silver, USA Today bestselling author of Flawless
"DeWitt’s sprightly narrative is by turns funny and red-hot, as Sage and Fisher, who share a love of puns, develop some serious chemistry... This is a charmer." —Publishers Weekly

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/52.75 Stars for me!
The story is entertaining and very predictable. The ding in the rating was for lack of chemistry plus a lot of extra detail. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5One if the best books I “read” or listened to this year!! And the narrators!!! They did an outstanding job in bringing this story to life. I listened to audiobook and then bought an actual copy of it because I will never be without this story. Beautiful!!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The story was cute and sweet. Predictable but in a nice way. Borderline hallmark-like, small-town vibes and main character romance tensions that go with small-town vibe story lines, I enjoyed the story, a nice way to end my summer reading season!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was amazing. Well-written, great characters with motivations and internal conflicts. I laughed out loud so many times but also cried. When a story can make me feel then I know it's a good one. The narrators did exceptional work.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5“I fell in love with you, and with this place, and it should've been enough to make me stay. I should've been able to show Indy that, too, but I was scared to fuck it up again. We're better than how you found us, but we're still working on ourselves.”
Thank you Netgalley and St Martin's Press for the honor of reading this book before publication. I waited to review the final copy when I saw that Zachary Webber was narrating .
Zachary Webber killed it as Fisher , he really has narrated the marjority of my fave books of 2024, if he narates I am running to listen. He adds passion, vulnerability and such joy to the characters he portrays.

✨ Gilmore Girls / Stars Hollow small town vibes (nosey neighbors, town hall meetings)
"I think sometimes some people make us different versions of ourselves, whether we mean to let them or not."
Sage made a huge difference in everyones lives. She was a light and color when Fisher had been living a continuous grey existence since his sister died. He took Indy his niece in, and in this summer of slowing down he was able to open his eyes to what was truly important. The life in the here and now, the small little moments of sharing . Her smile, her laugh , and Indy fell for Sage and the animals too. Sage saw you, and listened. This small town made you want to move there, and this wont be the last book I read of Dewitt's I love her prose and the feeling she evokes .
"Sometimes courage is just quietly trying again."
Fisher had growth in this book. Probably the most of any I have read this year. He gets a chance to get his boss's new restaurant opened, develop a new menu , and get his old job back in the city.
But is being a Michelin star chef everything? He learned that other peoples opinions are not as important as being present and passionate in life. Fisher fell in love with creating menus again from the inspiration of farm to table, and the bounty of the Pacific NW.
• “It’s been a privilege to fall in love with you, Sage,”
• "She’s the woman who has taught me to let go of so much so that I can wish and dream for more. I plan to savor every bit of it."
The best HEA I have read in 2024. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Such a heartwarming read! While it does deal with sad themes, I loved Sage and Fisher!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This was a fun romance, full of quirky characters and a very appealing setting. I liked the fact that it also incorporated some deeper themes - figuring out your place in the world, realizing the true strength in your strengths, finding your new "tribe" when your world has shattered. Loved the two main characters and their dialogue and interactions, as well as their surrounding characters. I listened to the audiobook, and the narration by Karissa Vacker and Zachary Webber was outstanding, as expected for these two narrators.
Thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for providing a digital copy for an unbiased review. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This romance has plenty of banter, but also quite a bit of characters realizing they need to do better. As Sage and Fisher move from fake-dating, friends with benefits, to realizing that they have caught feelings, they both also know that their time limit doesn't have any wiggle room. I loved how Fisher made Indy his priority above himself, even though it hurt. Sage's commitment to being herself, yet learning to let herself live a bigger life was admirable. My very favorite moment, though, was when Indy made a change of heart at the end. This was a perfect road trip listen. The dual narration was well done and I laughed several times while listening.
