This is probably the best book I have read (so far) on the Nature of faeries and elementals.
Though not what some may deem as a complete guide, this books provides the groundwork for understanding the different elemental dignities, and their role in the hierarchy of angelic beings.
The only disadvantage, is that Andrews has included very little historical or cultural information on the creatures he describes.

So you want to know about faeries. This book looks at the history of the faerie folk in literature. There is also a listed guide on different faeries, that is well researched and thorough.
