About this audiobook

A fresh look at the wheel of the year, drawing on the power of intuition to create rituals and celebrations in harmony with your own traditions, your locale, and the climate of where you live.

When we think of the wheel of the year, the Wiccan wheel with its celebrations of the Yule, Beltane, Mabon, and Samhain come to mind. But what about a wheel of the year for the rest of us pagans and witches? As a witch living in sunny South Florida, longtime hereditary witch Temperance Alden has often felt at odds gearing up to celebrate Yule, for example, when it is seventy-six degrees and sunny outside.

Year of the Witch will help listeners create their own intuitive practices in harmony with the climate, culture, and local spirits where they live. It's of interest to witches coming off the Wiccan path and looking for a more personal approach to celebrating the rhythms of nature. Year of the Witch covers all aspects of this new, seasonal practice: the origins of the neo-pagan wheel of the year and why it is still so relevant today; culture, historical facts, and traditions associated with the major ceremonies; basic principles of land-based magick; how to intuitively connect to the nature below your feet and the local gods; and being a custodian to the land and its impact on our spiritual practice.

Really informative and a great place to learn about different pagan holidays! I really enjoyed the voice of the writing and the balance of personal gnosis and verified gnosis. Definitely worth the small investment of three hours to listen to.

What a wonderful book! This is the first book I listened to as I begin my path into witchcraft and it has helped me focus in on where I wish to go and grow as I continue learning

The audiobook is wonderfully narrated. I quickly realized, this is one I will have to add to my hard copy library. Soon. The processes were very easy to follow. Temperance explained the "why" parts of the craft and personal variations SO well. A great guide to aid the solitary practitioner in making personal power stronger. Ingredients given for recipes and spells are easy to obtain and economical. Her section on "use what you have" and being budget conscious was spot on what I needed to hear today. 10/10!

The book is wonderful but the audiobook quality is lacking, lots of pops and it almost sounds like it’s skipping.

I enjoyed this book overall. The best parts are near the end of the book when they describe how to make your own wheel of the year and give a couple of projects that I haven't seen in other books yet.

Fabulous! Super informative, goes over a broad range of topics, would actually recommend this to beginners because it explains so much with actual DETAIL and HISTORY rather than giving you the watered-down version so many other books will. Five stars!!!

At first this seems like just another listing of the Wiccan wheel of the year. However this author does give a lot more sources of origin and acknowledges that a lot of these holidays are pulled from other cultures. The last 3 chapters are really the most helpful in crafting your own personal practices.
