Wendy Williams is being praised online by fans who claim that the opinionated talk show host had been warning the world about Sean 'Diddy' Combs' alleged crimes for years.

Williams, 60, started trending on X, formerly Twitter, in the wake of news that the disgraced rapper had been denied bail amid ongoing sex trafficking and racketeering charges - leading fans to lament the loss of her Hot Topics segment, in which she would unpack all the latest news from Hollywood on The Wendy Williams Show.

Williams had been critical of the music mogul, 54, during her career as a radio and television host, and fans argued that she had been one of the few stars to call out his alleged antics 'for decades.'

'Wendy Williams told us a decades ago about Diddy,' one X user wrote. 'The streets have been talking for a very long time.'

Another agreed: 'Wendy Williams been telling y'all about Diddy for years.'

The Wendy Williams Show aired its final episode in June 2022 after 13 years – without Williams herself making an appearance.

She previously withdrew from the show in 2021 and embarked on what was initially supposed to be a temporary leave of absence to cope with health issues.

Some fans joked that had the star still been on air, she would have highlighted the fact her warnings had been accurate.

One fan tweeted: 'She would've dedicated the entire hot topics to Diddy as she sips her tea while giving us the side eye after throwing shade and saying, "I told ya so".'

Another added: 'That lady in her purple chair would've given us the right CONTENT with a touch of "I told you so".'

'Don't forget that Wendy Williams told us exactly who Sean Combs was back in 1998. 26 years ago!,' read another comment.

One fan wrote: 'I truly miss Auntie Wendy Williams on days like today. No one did hot topics like she did. No one. I can almost hear her going off on Puffy (Diddy) and telling us she told us so.

'Because she's always known and she tried to tell us. Many times. I hope she's doing better.'

Combs headed to jail on Tuesday to await trial in his federal sex trafficking case, after a magistrate ordered him to be held without bail in a case that accuses him of presiding over a sordid empire of sexual crimes.

The music mogul pleaded not guilty to racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. He's been accused of inducing female victims and male sex workers into drugged-up, sometimes dayslong sexual performances dubbed 'Freak Offs.'

The indictment against him also alleged that he coerced and abused women for years while using blackmail and shocking acts of violence to keep his victims in line.

It referred obliquely to an attack on his former girlfriend, the R&B singer Cassie, that was captured on video and sent shockwaves upon its release in May.

More fans shared their sorrow about the fact Williams would not be sharing her takes about Diddy's ongoing legal woes as one wrote: 'Wendy Williams would’ve dedicated her entire hour to talk about Diddy and his mess. God, I miss her. I hope she’s doing well.'

Another stated: 'I wish Wendy Williams was still on tv for this Diddy arrest. She'd have come on stage and stared at us for a full minute like....'

'There is only one person that can truly elucidate the intricacies of @Diddy’s apprehension. That is Wendy Williams!,' one fan claimed.

This week it was revealed that Williams 'only received $82,000' from the controversial Lifetime documentary.

Elsewhere, Combs was once a guest on The Wendy Williams Show in June 2017 where he spoke candidly about fatherhood and his love life, before choosing to praise Williams despite their long-running tensions.

Diddy said: 'I must say, it's been a long time coming, but I just want to say how proud I am of you because I don't think people really get it that you were the first one to really cover hip hop culture.

'You started shedding light on our culture and our people, so thank you very much.'

Williams replied: 'And with that in mind, I know I've p****d a lot of people off, including you, but this is a full circle moment everybody.'

Diddy has been a major figure in the hip hop industry for the past three decades, having served as a producer for artists such as Usher and Notorious B.I.G.
