Ruben Amorim continues to celebrate new experiences as Manchester United manager and was unveiled to the mass media for the first time on Friday ahead of his debut match in charge.

The Portuguese is United's youngest-ever Premier League manager at just 39-years-old but isn't letting that bother him as he prepares to name his first matchday squad to take on Ipswich.

Plenty of talking points have glamorised his arrival at Old Trafford with Amorim tasked with sorting through the mess left by his predecessor Erik ten Hag that has seen United suffer their worst-ever start to a Premier League campaign.

Amongst the scrutiny that surrounds taking on one of the biggest jobs in world football is Amorim's preferred 3-4-3 formation with that being the basis of his unrivalled success at Sporting Lisbon.

He becomes the second Portuguese manager to take the helm at United and Amorim discussed the message he received from former boss Jose Mourinho, stepping into the 'impossible job' and offered an insight into what supporters can expect to see.

Here, Mail Sport shares the full transcript from Amorim's first press conference as Man United manager.

Does you understand the reality of taking on what is perceived as one of football's biggest jobs?

Yeah it is bigger, there is a lot of departments, so much bigger than Sporting and Sporting is big in Portugal. It is a global club, more than just coaching the team. I have a lot of help. I feel very comfortable. I feel at home

Can you win the Premier League title at Man United?

I am a little bit a dreamer and I believe in myself and I believe in the club, I think we have the same idea, the same mindset and that can help.

I truly believe in the players also. I think we have room to improve and I want to try new things. You guys think it is not possible, I think it is possible

What are your first impressions of United's squad and how much time do you need to improve things?

I don’t know about repair but we have space to grow as a team, I think we have to improve in a lot of areas, the understanding of the game, it is a different way of playing and we are changing in the middle of the season.

I think we have to improve the physical aspect of the team. I don’t know how long it will take, I know if you are in MU you have to win games, so I will not tell you I need a lot of time. It is a great league, the strongest in the world and we have to improve a lot. We have to win games and then to win titles.

Do you want to lead a revolution at the club?

It is not revolution. Football is not so different with three players at the back, four or five. We will play a different type of football. We have our ideas. It is our way of seeing football.

Have you heard from Jose Mourinho since joining United?

He sent me a message, he said welcome to the club, big club and in that he is correct. But a lot of things change, we are in a different building now, we are building a new one.

I am a different guy and I hope to teach something to my players. The club is still big, it is still the best in England and we want to win

What quick gains can you make at the club?

In simple things, I think, if you want to speak about the team, I think we lose the ball too often, we have to be better at running back, I think that is clear to everyone and I think we have to be better on the details.

We have to improve on the small things. In the small things, I think I can help a lot.

Are you similar to Mourinho when he first joined Chelsea?

First thing, not just on me but all the Portuguese coaches, he showed we can be the best in the world, it is in a small country but I am different from Mourinho.

You look at Jose Mourinho and think he can be everywhere, he was European champion and I am not.

Football these days is different and I think I am the right person for this moment, I am a young guy. Mourinho at Chelsea, the young guys were like Lampard and these days are different.

How will recruitment work with you in charge?

I think it has to be all together because if you are a coach coming here and already chose the players, you could be wrong because the club will be here for a long time and you as a coach, you don’t know that.

We have to improve the process of recruitment, the data. I think it is all together, but the final word should be the manager, not because it is your right but because it is your responsibility.

I have to understand the league and then when everything is aligned, everyone is on the same page, we can buy and sell players

Will you have the final say on new signings?

It is not the final, the final but I have a great responsibility when we chose the players.

Is being Man United manager the impossible job?

I really don’t know the biggest challenge, I will found out during this months. You have here different types of coaches, the guys that won everything like Van Gaal and Mourinho, the new ones that knew the club inside out like Solskjaer, then one of the best outside the top five leagues in Ten Hag.

We have to improve as a club and acknowledged we have to win games. You have different coaches, the same results. We will try to do Ineos way, my way

So it's not impossible?

No, of course not. Call me naive but I believe I am the right guy in the right moment. I truly believe I am the right guy.

What have you seen in your players?

It is a belief, you have to believe and I believe in them. When I start this week, you can say one week three trainings but they are open to different things. The only thing I ask is hard work and you have to believe in the idea.

Is a two-and-a-half year contract long enough to make a change?

I have two years and a half of contract. I think two years you can understand if I am the right manager to go in this process.

We will need more time, if you look to the clubs who are winning this league, they are doing this process for a long time.

I understand we will need more than two and a half years, we have to win something, somewhere but in two years you can understand if you want to continue this part or change.

Will we see players playing in different positions under you?

They want to play. In this first moment, they just want to play, it is easy, in the future we will see. You can watch on TV but you have to train with them to see if they can play in different positions.

Everyone wants to play now, if they have the opportunity to play as a goalkeeper, they will

Did the players lose belief in themselves under Ten Hag?

That is for sure but normal when players don’t win games, you start to be suspicious of the way of playing. You can understand when they walk to the game or the warm up, you can understand if they are confident or not.

I think they have to help them but they are ready to cope with the demands of games in the Premier League. You see sometimes they have bad first half and then second half they will change so they have to find that mindset.

Will this group have to adjust to your preferred formation?

As a coach you have to choose one way or another, I choose always 100 percent our way. I choose to risk a bit. I believe so much in our way of playing, they will believe too.

There is no second way. We will adapt some players because we don’t have a different profile.

Maybe on Sunday you will see the starting 11 and not feel a lot of change but you will see it in the game and the positioning or where they receive the ball.
