Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur's Richarlison looks set for a long spell on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury in the side's 4-1 victory over Aston Villa.
The Brazilian's luck seems to be out of late, having only just returned to the squad for last month's win over West Ham after seven weeks out with a knee problem.
Having played 96 minutes in all competitions on his journey to full fitness, Richarlison seemed to have turned a corner on Sunday, after being subbed on at 56 minutes and quickly providing a pinpoint assist for Dominic Solanke's second.
No sooner had he played this cutting pass, however, than he limped off with his latest complaint, and the forward looked visibly emotional as he departed the field.
Now his manager has confirmed the extent of his forward's injury and it is not good news for Spurs fans.
Richarlison went down with a hamstring injury on Sunday after just returning from a knee issue
The Brazilian faces a lengthy period on the sidelines in what has been an injury-hit year
The update is a blow for Spurs and leaves Ange Postecoglou with fewer attacking options
Postecoglou said: 'He was very disappointed. I think I said in the lead up, we tried to take a different approach, he worked awfully hard on his rehab but also his general fitness.
'He'd really trimmed down in terms of his conditioning. He was doing everything right, we eased him back into playing, we didn't want to overload him and unfortunately he broke down again.
'He's disappointed but ultimately, we've just got to keep getting him back in there and work with him to get him back up because he's an important player.
'You saw last week the impact he had coming off the bench and setting up the goal for him.
'Disappointing for him, disappointing for us because we haven't really had him at our disposal this year.
'But we'll just keep working with Richy and try to get him back.
'I'm reticent to put [a time on] it but he'll be out for a significant amount of time. It's a significant hamstring injury.'
Richarlison posted a heart-wrenching update on Instagram following his latest setback.
The forward had just teed up Dominic Solanke with a delightful cross to put Spurs 3-1 up
The home side pulled off an impressive comeback having gone in 1-0 down at half-time
They were dealt a reality check on Thursday, however, crashing to a 3-2 defeat to Galatasaray
'It's a difficult moment, again,' he said. 'I was very happy working hard and playing, but now I am injured again.
'It's difficult to say what I'm feeling in this moment, just pray for me… I hope God will protect me.'
Spurs went on to win the game 4-1 thanks to a James Maddison free-kick which completed and emphatic comeback after Jacob Ramsey had put Villa in front.
Postecoglou's side were brought back down to earth almost immediately, however, slumping to a Europa League defeat at the hands of Galatasaray thanks to a Victor Osimhen brace.
