Wolves vs Crystal Palace - Premier League RECAP: Score, team news and updates as four goals in 17 second-half minutes set up thrilling finale at Molineux

Thank you for following our coverage of the clash at Molineux tonight. It was a struggle in the first half but all of us die-hards were rewarded with a goalfest in the second period.

Wolves' search for their first win goes on and how long can it continue before O'Neil becomes the second managerial casualty of the season. I think we were the better team but in the end we couldn't keep the lead. It really hurts to be standing here with only one point.

It's really frustrating [not to have got the first win]. We all deserve more, especially the fans showing up tonight. It's them I'm most sorry for today.

Look at that xG for Palace, 2.89! That's apparently the highest xG for any team in the Premier League this season. They didn't even have a penalty. How have they managed that?

Aside from that bombshell, Wolves bossed possession but lagged behind their opponents when it came to touches in the box and final-third passes.

Marc Guehi, Crystal Palace, Sky Sports:

A little [disappointed]. It's important not to be too disappointed, we're playing a good side who are up for it and playing at home. Both teams are fighting for their lives. It's our third game in six days so I'm really proud of everyone putting in a good shift today.

It's always difficult at the start [of the season], we've got a few new boys coming into the side, we haven't really had a pre-seson as a team. We can't use that as too much of an excuse. It's important that we use that momentum that we have to move forward and try to get the most wins as possible.

People say you can't start to look at the table until after matchday 10, so what does it say now we're here. Well, it doesn't make pretty viewing for either team.

Wolves are bottom on three points, while Palace are in 17th.

It’s hard to see how O’Neil survives in the long term. That’s one win in 20 in the league. The players are still running for him but they make so many mistakes and ultimately he will surely pay the price for that. If that is not this week, then it won’t be much longer.

What a second half that was. Wolves' wait for a Premier League win this season goes on but they could so easily have lost it right at the end. Palace will be happier, having equalised to earn the point.

Wolves on the other hand, well, it's not great. Again, they showed some good stuff but they didn't do it for long enough. Where do the home side go from here?

Drama at the end of the match here. Palace thought they had won it through Mateta, who passed the ball into the back of the net but Anthony Taylor immediately blew his whistle for a foul on Sa. I think that's harsh on Palace.

Wolves are pushing but there's no way through this Palace defence at the minute. We've just seen O'Neil on the touchline and he does nooo look happy. Can they fashion one more chance?

Yes, you read that correctly. SEVEN minutes. Plenty of time for one of these teams to claim what could be a massive win.

It's getting a little stop-start at the end here. wolves are the ones pushing for a goal and Palace are desperately trying to take something back with them to London.

Munoz is cautioned after bringing down Gomes, who has been brilliant in the second half.

Nathaniel Clyne enters the action late on for Nketiah. Guess that shows how Glasner is feeling about this one. Also, earlier Doucoure came on for Hughes.

And breathe - I think things have settled somewhat. Wolves have returned to controlling the ball but Palace look threatening on the break. A draw is no good for either side really. I can definitely see a winner in the last 10 or so.

Not great from Hughes. He picks up a yellow card as he's about to be substituted. The kicker is that the caution now rules him out of Palace's next game.

Our prayer for goals has certainly been answered hasn't it. Palace are back level thanks to Guehi's tap-in at the far post. Having managed to get themselves in front, Wolves will be devastated to concede in that manner.

The defending from the set-piece was poor and the Palace skipper capitalised.

Unbelievable stuff. Wolves have turned it around in the blink of an eye. Cunha is involved yet again but this time it's Gomes who finishes off the chance.

Guedes was also crucial in the move, laying it on a plate for his teammate to cooly slot past Henderson in goal. Tactical masterclass by O'Neil.

Look away Chalobah. Hero to Zero in a few minutes. The defender misses the flight of the ball and Cunha pounces, controlling the pass and playing it into Strand Larsen.

The forward looked to have taken too long with the effort but he calmly slotted it through the legs of Henderson. Game on. That's just what the doctor ordered. The Wolves doctor at least.

No surprise here to see O'Neil turning to his bench. Bellegard, Lemina and Guedes come on for Gomes, Doyle and Sarabia. This a massive 30 minutes for the Wolves boss.

Sarr has got to score. He's got to double the advantage. He doesn't and Wolves are spared but the boos are ringing out around Molineux.

Nketiah did well on the wing and fired a cross into the box that was deflected but dropped to the Senegalese. He could only side-foot his effort over the bar.

That's quality! It's a really good finish from Chalobah, who missed a far easier chance in the first half. The defender makes the most of Sa's failure to clear the ball from a free-kick.

Chalobah takes the ball on his chest on the angle and lashes the ball into the back of the net. Great stuff.

Think we've just seen the best example of the poor attacking play in this match. Eddie Nketiah had the chance to test Sa with a half volley in the area but the Englishman completely shanked his effort.

Who's going to show some quality required to win this game? My money is on Mateta or Cunha.

It's Wolves controlling the ball at the start of the second half. Looks like that passage of play which led to their chance has energised them somewhat. Tommy Doyle has just tried his luck with an effort from range that trickled back to Henderson but it's better from the home side.

Oh my! Henderson with the heroics after smart play from Waolves and Cunha. The forward played in Sarabia, who was free and looked set to open the scoring. But Henderson rushed out and took one flush in the face to deny him.

That's got to hurt! The stopper remains on the turf for a few minutes and is being seen by medics. Looks like he'll be fine to continue.

We're back underway at Molineux. Let's hope we can see some goals. No changes from either manager at the break.

He may not have scored yet but every good thing Palace have done in an attacking sense hs gone through the Frenchman. Defenders have been bouncing off of him tonight, if only his teammates could finish their dinner - or not get in the way of his shots.

The 27-year-old had a real breakout season last term and it now feels like he's undroppable. Bear in mind that he's basically been playing football constantly for the past 18 months after playing for his nation in the Olympics in the summer.

Best league in the world? My word, there was some real dross served up by both sides in that half. Atmosphere is so flat, too. Reminds me of a game from the Covid era.

It hasn't been a classic but no added time? Really? Anyways, Oliver Glasner will certainly be the happier of the two managers - and the most frustrated. His team haven't created lots but what they have fashioned should have seen them take the lead.

As for Wolves, well, they really need to pick things up. We gave it the big build-up pre-match but it doesn't look like they appreciate the peril they're in.

Chances galore at Molineux right. This one falls for the home side and Sarabia, who has been given a rare start tonight. The Spaniard dallied on the ball after an inch-perfect cross from Cunha.

To be fair, a lot of credit has to go to Henderson in goal. The Palace stopper rushed out to meet the Wolves man and then got a hand to the ball when Sarabia attempted to go round him.

Palace are knocking on the door now. Is that Mateta or prime Lukaku because the Frenchman is having his way with the Wolves defenders right now.

His run led to chaos in the home side's backline, with the ball eventually coming in to Munoz and Nketiah. Strangely, the defender and now the striker got his head on the ball and the result was another missed opportunity.

Nketiah was in a much better position to receive the cross. You feel he would have scored there.

Trevor Chalobah has missed a sitter. What comedy! The defender was about four yards out but managed to whiff a side-foot volley. His failed attempt saw the ball drop to his teammate Mateta, who preceded to lash the ball at this colleague now inadvertently blocking the goa.

So Chalobah missed a sitter and then blocked the follow-up.

This is really low-standard stuff so far at Molineux.

Strong play by Mateta creates a shooting opportunity for Eddie Knetoah and Palace. The Frenchman holds off defender after defender, barrelling his way towards the box before playing a pass into Nketiah. The former Arsenal man got a defence shot off but it was straight at Sa.

Feels like the momentum has swung in this game again. Wolves have been on top recently and nearly fashioned a glorious goal but Ait-Nouri's ambitious looped cross was too strong for the onrushing Sarabia.

It's Ait-Nouri involved in an attacking sense again, this time popping up on the right following a dangerous corner. Wolves unsettled the Palace back line with the inswinging delivery before Strand Larsen did well to hold off his defender and lay it off for Ait-Nouri.

The defender, again on his weaker foot and meeting a bouncing ball, blazed over. That's two for the fullback and he's getting closer, even if it's only marginally.

Wolves have lost their way a tad here. Palace are growing in confidence, bossing possession and looking far the most likely to break the deadlock. In fairness, Wolves do look a threat on the counter but I doubt O'neil would have wanted his team to adopt this posture so early in the match.

Palace pressure. The visitors have responded well and have managed to get themselves on top. The Eagles are playing some nice stuff, playing the ball around and the likes of Nketiah and Sarr are involved. Positive signs for them now.

The home side had an opening there, with Ait-Nouri, who has been in the goals of late. The full back received the ball just inside the box and turned inside before getting a shot away. The only issue was that it was on his weaker right foot.

The effort squiralled away well wide.

Palace should be ahead. Will Hughes had the best chance in a flurry of shots for the away side after some great work down the left wing by Mateta.

Hughes' shot from the edge of the box was well blocked before Kamada had a try but his effort went straight at Jose Sa.

Early pressure from the home side. They've had a free-kick and a corner in the first couple of minutes, which has done wonders to get the fans involved.

No shots to speak of just yet but it's certainly been an encouraging start from O'Neil's men.

'These home games against Palace and Southampton are not must-wins’ – Gary O’Neil. Suspect the majority in here disagree. Have to say, it is very flat for such a big game. I expected Molineux to be buzzing.

I'll feel the same [even if we win]. I've been around this sort of pressure my whole adult life. I left school and went straight into professional football.

I enjoy this. I'm excited for today and to see how the team can do. How we'll perform out there in front of our fans and give them a good evening.

All attackers live for scoring goals and this gives them confidence. Eddie works really hard for the team in attacking and defending. Of course we all wish he scores for himself and also for us as a team.

It will be a team effort. Eddie cannot score on his own, he'll need his teammates. I'm quite confident.

Wolves were 2-0 down on 88 minutes last week and the players were still fighting for the manager which can only be a positive.

The two late goals should give them great confidence. Palace again are off the back of good results so they'll be full of confidence. It wouldn't surprise me if Palace go there and get three points so I'll go for them to win again

A quick detour from the game at Molineux as the afternoon games are just finishing and it's a big deal for Liverpool. The Reds trailed Brighton at home but came back to win while Man City were beaten 2-1 by Bournemouth.

Elsewhere, Forest go marching on, in fact, they go above Arsenal and into the TOP FOUR after the Gunners' loss at Newcastle.

Wolves supporters have joined a national campaign by the Football Supporters Association this weekend as fans call for clubs to hear them on ticket pricing and a whole lot more.

I wonder if Oliver Glasner will come to regret picking such a strong team for Palace’s midweek win at Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup.

That’s when Eberechi Eze, their best attacking player, picked up the hamstring injury that keeps him out of his crucial game. It’s not a romantic opinion, but surely today’s is the more important game.

Matheus Cunha, Wolves, pre-match:

For me, this is the most crucial point in the season. Of course, Crystal Palace is also a very good team, but they’ve started the season like us, and we need to be very careful, because they come here with a little bit more power because they won the last game, a very important game also against Tottenham.

But for both teams, it will be very important, and hopefully it will be the key to changing every single thing, because the games that are coming are more face-to-face, and then I hope we have more celebrations.

We're more than a quarterway through the season already. Positions don't actually change too much after the 10-game mark. Around four places on average, I believe. Both sides will obviously be aware of that fact and know that getting themselves out of the quagmire as soon as possible is vitally important.

Coming into today's fixtures, Wolves are 19th and Palace flying high in 17th place.

Today marks the start of a run of really winnable games for Wolves, simple as that. They've played well at the start of the season but they've not been rewarded. Making up the deficit in the games ahead will be crucial to their survival.

After tonight, Wolves play Southampton, Fulham, Bournemouth, Everton, West Ham, Ipswich and Leicester in their next seven matches.

It's turning into a thrilling day in the Premier League today. Arsenal were beaten by Newcastle in the early kick-off and Liverpool and Man City aren't looking like they're going to capitalise on the slip-up.

Our group is ready to go. We understand we've had a tough start to the season and we'd love to have more than two points on the board but our belief is intact.

Any team that can come from two goals down with five minutes left [against Brighton] shows they have real fight.

We are just going to attack it full throttle. It won't always look pretty because of the style of the team we're playing against, but from the moment we get there until the final whistle we will give it everything we've got.

Some relief for you Palace fans, defensive midfielder Cheick Doucoure is back in the matchday squad for the game tonight. The 24-year-old hasn't been involved since the draw with Leicester in September.

He's basically not featured for the Eagles since suffering a brutal Achilles injury last season.

Aside from the two changes we expected, Oliver Glasner has brought in Will Hughes for Lerma. Elsewhere, Kamada and Nketiah start in place of the injured Eze and Wharton.

O'Neil has made only one change to the side that claimed a draw against Brighton in dramatic fashion last weekend. Sarabia comes in for Lemina, who will be a big miss.

The home side have managed only one win in their last seven against today's opponents. That came at Molineux in April 2023 when an own goal from Joachim Andersen and a Ruben Neves penalty - remember him - gave Julen Lopetgui's side three points.

Man, a lot changes in the Premier League in 18 months.

With Eze and Wharton missing for Palace, it feels like now or never time for Gary O’Neil and Wolves, still looking for their first win of the season.

Of course [the wins] helped us in getting the belief back, the confidence back, and you can see and feel it in training. I don't want to say that we trained, it's just recovery sessions.

It was a good mood even when we were not that successful, but of course it's now much better. It's always important to stay humble and show the players what we think was the game-changer, especially against Tottenham

Palace actually arrive in Wolves off the back of two wins, having secured an equally impressive win over Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup in midweek. But that victory came at a price, with both Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton sustaining injuries that will put them out for a number of games.

Can they still survive without them? Guess we'll see.

Good evening, the late game of the weekend takes us to Molineux where winless Wolves are hopeful of breaking their duck against Crystal Palace, who earned their first win of the season last weekend.

Palace will no doubt be buoyed by their win over Tottenham last time out but they arrive in the Midlands without key men due to injury. More on that later.

Wolves don't deserve to be without a win this season, do they? They've played quite well but I guess you get what you deserve. Gary O'Neil doesn't need a big performance from his today just a win. Only that will quiet the rising chatter over his position.
