Werner and Kulusevski (man of the match) speak to Sky Sports
'It's always hard to play against a team like Man City. it was important to show the way we want to play our football in our staidum. For the whole 90 minutes we were in a position where we were dangerous.'
'It's always good to score early in the game. The last weeks were tough but you can't stop, always have to go on, and there will come a time where you earn something.
'I love this game whre you play the best teams in the world because I want to be one of the best players in the world.'

HALF-TIME: Newcastle 2-0 Chelsea - a 'defensive disasterclass'
First half was everything NUFC wanted & needed it to be. 2-0 up &, while they've survived a couple of very good Chelsea chances, they've been aggressive in press, on front foot & (crucially) have taken chances. Midfield is functioning, with Tonali much better centrally.
That’s as bad as I’ve seen Chelsea play this season, that first half summing up the dangers of playing from the back. Defensive disasterclass.

Chance! 'Joao Felix leaves defenders dizzy'
Still find it bizarre that we're knocking on November and Chelsea still haven't secured a shirt sponsor. I get why they may not be getting offered the capital they want, because they aren't in the Champions League, but it looks strange.
Anyway, back to the football, Joao Felix just blazed over. He showed excellent feet in the build-up, dizzying a few defenders.

'That was the definition of a sitter'
I thought Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was a bad miss… then saw that one from Joelinton. Newcastle should be 1-0 up. That was the definition of a sitter.
This will be Chelsea’s toughest test when Enzo Maresca has made his umpteen changes. Newcastle are better than Servette, Gent and the like.

Tottenham vs Manchester City team news
Guardiola was promising changes and Erling Haaland is rightly given a breather, which means City are back to the old false nine.
Quite a big night for John Stones, who has performed well when called upon but is struggling to dislodge the Manuel Akanji and Ruben Dias partnership.
And always good to see the kids, with James McAtee and Nico O'Reilly having the chance to impress from the start.

Arne Slot comfortable with rotation
'I feel very comfortable because we have so many quality players. When we faced West Ham we had enough players to change them all.
On Jaros: 'They already saw him in the Crystal Palace game where he showed quality and we could realy on him. He had a fantastic spell last season where he won the league and the cup.

'Newcastle's team-sheet concerns me'
From a Newcastle perspective, the team-sheet would concern me. It’s likely we’ll see a few square pegs in round holes.
Joelinton is likely to start from the left wing for the first time this season, meaning Anthony Gordon will shift to his unfavoured right. Lloyd Kelly is starting a game at centre-back for the first time for Newcastle, while Sean Longstaff will probably be central of a midfield three, when he is more accustomed to playing from the right.
I expected Eddie Howe to name an XI more reflective of his strongest, and I’m not sure this is it.

Brighton and Liverpool dig deep
Just the 16 changes combined from Brighton and Liverpool.
In these moments of rotation it can be mildly interesting (it isn’t) to add up the numbers of the two squads to show how far they have reached into their respective barrels, so I have done that for you. Brighton: 425. Liverpool 681.
Trey Nyoni, the 17-year-old midfielder on Liverpool’s bench, is No 98. You’re welcome.

'Another ringing endorsement of Unai Emery'?
Fourth in the Premier League and top of the Champions League table, progress to the quarter-finals tonight would be another ringing endorsement of Villa’s rise under Unai Emery.
They have not seen silverware in these parts since Brian Little’s men dispatched Leeds United 3-0 at Wembley in the final of this competition in 1995/96 – when it was known as the Coca-Cola Cup
Yet Palace represent tricky opposition, having turned Tottenham over on Sunday.
