He's still absolutely furious about not getting that penalty in the second half. When he looks at it again, he'll probably realise it would have been incredibly soft.

Mourinho has said he just spoke to the referee, who claims he saw Mourinho's touchline behaviour and the penalty incident that went against Fenerbahce.

Mourinho describes this as 'incredible'.

Mourinho goes on to claim Fenerbahce played 'an amazing match' and says Onana 'saved the match' for United.

It's contrasting fortunes for the two Premier League clubs in the Europa League.

United are languishing down in 21st in the 36-team league, while Tottenham are second behind Serie A outfit Lazio.

Andre Onana admits tonight's result is a 'disappointing' one, but concedes that at least United did not get beaten.

He says he feels United were the better side, but they only come away with a point from the game.

Reflecting on his double save, he adds: 'It's always nice to make these saves'.

Mourinho reportedly did not take his red card particularly well after the final whistle tonight...

James Maddison has been signing the praises of Mikey Moore after Tottenham's 1-0 win tonight.

He's even compared Moore to Brazilian superstar Neymar.

Elsewhere in Europe tonight, Rangers have thrashed Steaua Bucharest 4-0 in the Europa League.

Vaclav Cerny scored twice for the Scottish giants as they picked up an impressive win.

Ange Postecoglou took a gamble tonight by making nine changes from the weekend but it paid off.

His side have maximum points in Europe and a well-rested squad heading into this weekend's trip to Crystal Palace.

Tonight will go down as another missed opportunity for United.

They led and looked in control at half time but conceded an early second half goal and then couldn't find the quality in the final third to get back in front.

Three games, three draws in the Europa League, and Ten Hag will know that isn't good enough.

Not a vintage performance but Spurs do enough to make it three wins from three in the Europa League.

Richarlison's penalty separated the two teams, and AZ Alkmaar were reduced to 10 men late on.

United had more of the play but once again couldn't hold onto a lead and they now have just three points from their three European games this season.

Amad, who must be wondering why he hasn't got more game time, replaces him.

Dreadful backpass and Hojlund is nearly in but the goalkeeper races off his line to just get there first.

Antony then goes down after appearing to be caught late and he needs treatment.

Eriksen put the free-kick into a dangerous area but it's cleared.

United then come again and Garnacho cuts inside but his shot is well held by the goalkeeper.

Garnacho is tripped on the edge of the box. Good opportunity for United here.

Fenerbahce make a triple substitution, with former Man City striker Edin Dzeko one of the players to come on.

Hojlund is annoyed with himself as he should do better.

He dribbles to the edge of the area but is shot with his weaker right foot is tame and goes straight into the keeper's hands.

United are starting to control possession but are finding it difficult to get through Fenerbahce's stubborn defence.

Rashford makes way for Antony as United search for a winner.

Mourinho is convinced it should be a penalty but the appeal is waved away.

Tottenham lead!

They win a penalty and after a long lay-off it's Richarlison who steps up. He dispatches his spot-kick to the relief of the home crowd.

Werner’s exit meant a switch for Moore from the right flank to the left, where he prefers to play and made an instant impact with a delightful pass to Johnson, whose shot was blocked, a teasing cross almost turned in by Bergvall and a jinking run. It lifted the mood.

Fenerbahce are level!

It's a wonderful cross from Saint-Maximin and En-Nesyri cannot miss with his header from four yards. Game on!

Some sloppy passing at the start of this second half as both teams are guilty of giving the ball away cheaply.

Onana's last trip to Turkey was disastrous as he was at fault for multiple goals against Galatasaray.

But the Cameroonian goalkeeper looks to have turned a corner at Old Trafford, and that first half double save was breathtaking.

Spurs have been probing but are yet find the breakthrough against their Dutch opponents.

It's been a quiet few minutes and that will suit the visitors just fine.

Timo Werner is suffering a crisis of confidence. Played clean through by Lucas Bergvall, he hurried his shot, failed to generate any power and aimed it tamely straight at the keeper. Then Richarlison set him clear. This one more difficult, on the run from an angle, and Werner sliced it wide with his left foot.

Then gave a simple pass away and sparked a dangerous counter by AZ. To his credit, Werner never stops running or giving his all but he desperately needs a goal.

Quite funny watching Jose Mourinho’s technical area because he’s going right through his emotional repertoire. The latest a case of being totally bewildered with mouth agape - and a slight chuckle - as Andre Onana produced two world class saves mili-seconds apart to deny Youssef En-Nesyri.

Say what you want about Mourinho but the Premier League is worse off for entertainment value with him gone.

How have Fenerbahce not equalised? Andre Onana, take a bow!

The ball gets crossed in and a powerful header comes in which Onana tips away. He gets straight back to his feet and as the ball comes back in he's needed again to tip another header over the bar.

That was phenomenal goalkeeping.

The good and the bad of Zirkzee in the space of a few seconds.

He turns away from his man brilliantly and had Rashford haring away to his right. The pass is massively overhit, though, and goes straight through to the goalkeeper.

It's been a hit and miss first half from Rashford so far as he plays a cross-field pass way behind his intended team-mate. Onana mops up and there is no damage done.

Meanwhile, Eriksen has been outstanding in the middle of the park so far.

Quite subdued at Spurs. Home team in complete control. AZ deep and playing on the counter. Few chances. Moore headed wide early and Werner has just fluffed a chance, played clean through by Bergvall, tame effort straight at the keeper.

Slight concern here for United as Zirkzee requires treatment.

He's back to his feet for now.

Fenerbahce look destined to equalise as the ball is crossed in and beats Onana's despairing dive.

But Ugarte just gets back in time to get his body in the way of a shot and the ball dribbles into the hands of Onana as he gets back to his feet.

Outstanding defensive work from the Uruguayan midfielder.

So nearly a second for United!

Excellent work from Eriksen who strides forward and then passes to Rashford.

The winger cuts inside and tries to clip his shot into the far corner but it goes a yard wide of the target.

Fenerbahce work the ball to the edge of the box and Tadic lets fly but it's a tame effort that's easily held by Onana.

He'll be happy to deal with those sorts of efforts all evening.

Christian Eriksen said last night that he won’t have any say on whether he gets to stay at Manchester United beyond the end of this season when his contract runs out.

If he keeps scoring - or assisting like the two he delivered in Porto - the club won’t have much choice but to keep the in-form man. Do me a favour, Christian!

One attack, one goal!

A fine counter-attack as Ugarte wins the ball back then sets Garnacho away.

His cut back is laid off by Zirkzee to Eriksen who fires home from the edge of the box. That will settle some nerves for United.

Marcus Rashford is the first player into the book as he breaks up a promising attack.

A simple decision for the referee that one.

Saint-Maximin heavily involved so far but United handling him at the moment.

United yet to offer much in attack themselves, though.

Meanwhile, I thoroughly enjoyed Andre Onana blowing a kiss to the Fenerbahce fans behind the goal which seemed to, as expected, wind them up. Last time he was playing for United in Turkey it was a complete disaster and he was culpable for calamitous mistakes that gifted Galatasaray their goals on the night. He’s here tonight with a different kind of swagger.

Mourinho was sacked after just two years at United, but Paul Scholes is not convinced he was ever the right man for the Old Trafford hotseat.

I thought he was always prickly. Attitude wasn’t always great towards the people he was working with. I never felt it was the right match at the time. He did well, won trophies, finished second as he reminded us but I never felt it was right.

I don’t think he was fully committed to Manchester. There were rumours of him staying at a hotel, he didn’t rent a house, buy a house, travelled up and down on the train all the time. It was a tough job for him. I don’t think it was a match made in heaven but got a couples of trophies.

United fans were attacked by Fenerbahce ultras on the street last night.

Let's hope there is no more crowd trouble this evening and that the football takes centre stage.

It was confirmed last week that Sir Alex Ferguson's ambassadorial role at United has been axed amid cost-cutting at the club.

Paul Scholes has reacted to the news this evening and has labelled the move 'distasteful'.

I thought it was a little bit distasteful for what that man has done for the club. Almost a little bit disrespectful but they’re new owners and new owners makes changes and they think what they’re doing is best for the club.

If they think they can save whatever money I know it’s been talked about £2million, if they think they can use it elsewhere then so be it. This club owes a lot to SAF, It’s where it is now mainly because of the success he had for so many years.

The timing of it was poor because you think they’re in a really bad run of form, could you have waited or done it before the season started, at the end of the season. The publicity wasn’t great around but SAF will be fine he will go on and still be the best ambassador the club has had.

Erik ten Hag has been speaking to TNT Sports, and has just suggested that Noussair Mazraoui could be United's most advanced midfielder tonight ahead of Eriksen and Ugarte.

Things have not always gone to plan when United have travelled to Turkey, and they are unlikely to have things all their own way tonight.

Mourinho was in fine form at his press conference yesterday, and even aimed a dig at Man City amid their legal battle with the Premier League as he joked that he may still get a fourth winner's medal if Pep Guardiola's side are stripped of their titles.

United finished second to City in 2017-18, and Mourinho seems to be holding out hope that they may yet be upgraded to champions.

Tottenham host AZ Alkmaar tonight looking to make it three wins from three in Europe.

They will have to do so without their captain Son Heung-min who will not be risked after recently returning from injury.

Calm before the storm inside the stadium right now with just under two hours until kick-off but it was far from it outside. As you can see from the video below it has been getting very tasty among the Fenerbahce fans with flares lighting up the night sky.

United fans haven’t been shy in singing throughout the city in the bars and restaurants but this, as it so often does in Turkey, have the hallmarks of an incredibly febrile atmosphere for Erik ten Hag and his players. I just hope they are ready for it.

United returned to winning ways by beating Brentford 2-1 on Saturday but must now start to build some momentum.

A defeat tonight would put them back to square one and ramp up the pressure on Erik ten Hag again.
