That's all for tonight

It was another frustrating night for United, while Tottenham continue to go from strength to strength in Europe.

Until next time...

Mourinho is still box office

That Mourinho interview was pure box office. He's still got it.

He's still absolutely furious about not getting that penalty in the second half. When he looks at it again, he'll probably realise it would have been incredibly soft.

Mourinho: 'The referee told me something incredible'

Mourinho has said he just spoke to the referee, who claims he saw Mourinho's touchline behaviour and the penalty incident that went against Fenerbahce.

Mourinho describes this as 'incredible'.

Mourinho goes on to claim Fenerbahce played 'an amazing match' and says Onana 'saved the match' for United.

21:20

Onana: 'I'm not happy with the draw'

Andre Onana admits tonight's result is a 'disappointing' one, but concedes that at least United did not get beaten.

He says he feels United were the better side, but they only come away with a point from the game.

Reflecting on his double save, he adds: 'It's always nice to make these saves'.

United still winless in Europe

Tonight will go down as another missed opportunity for United.

They led and looked in control at half time but conceded an early second half goal and then couldn't find the quality in the final third to get back in front.

Three games, three draws in the Europa League, and Ten Hag will know that isn't good enough.

20:56

FULL TIME: Tottenham 1-0 AZ Alkmaar

Not a vintage performance but Spurs do enough to make it three wins from three in the Europa League.

Richarlison's penalty separated the two teams, and AZ Alkmaar were reduced to 10 men late on.

20:55

FULL TIME: Fenerbahce 1-1 Man United

It ends all square in Istanbul.

United had more of the play but once again couldn't hold onto a lead and they now have just three points from their three European games this season.

Muldur flies in on Amad and gets nothing on the ball. He is rightly booked and United have a free-kick in a dangerous area.

20:50

Fenerbahce 1-1 Man United

Five minutes of added time. Antony was just down for over three alone!

Still, plenty of time for a winner.

20:49

Red card! Tottenham 1-0 AZ Alkmaar

AZ Alkmaar's task just became much more difficult as David Moller Wolfe is sent off for a second bookable offence.

They are still 1-0 down against Tottenham with five minutes remaining in that one.

20:44

Fenerbahce 1-1 Man United

Dreadful backpass and Hojlund is nearly in but the goalkeeper races off his line to just get there first.

Antony then goes down after appearing to be caught late and he needs treatment.

20:43

Fenerbahce 1-1 Man United

Eriksen put the free-kick into a dangerous area but it's cleared.

United then come again and Garnacho cuts inside but his shot is well held by the goalkeeper.

Garnacho is tripped on the edge of the box. Good opportunity for United here.

20:38

Fenerbahce make a triple substitution, with former Man City striker Edin Dzeko one of the players to come on.

20:35

SAVE! Fenerbahce 1-1 Man United

Hojlund is annoyed with himself as he should do better.

He dribbles to the edge of the area but is shot with his weaker right foot is tame and goes straight into the keeper's hands.

SAVE! Fenerbahce 1-1 Man United

Patient build-up from United and the ball comes to Mazraoui on the edge of the area. He lets fly but it's straight above the goalkeeper who tips over.

From the resulting corner, De Ligt gets his head to it, and the goalkeeper tips over once more. Just starting to ramp up the pressure now.

Garnacho gets the wrong side of Osayi-Samuel and is brought down.

Yellow card for Osayi-Samuel.

20:18

Mourinho sent off! Fenerbahce 1-1 Man United

Fenerbahce want a penalty as Osayi-Samuel goes down under a challenge from Ugarte.

Mourinho is convinced it should be a penalty but the appeal is waved away.

And Mourinho has now been given a red card! It was never going to be a quiet night for him, was it?

Ten Hag reacts to the equaliser by making a double change as Casemiro and Hojlund replace Lindelof and Zirkzee.

20:14

GOAL! Tottenham 1-0 AZ Alkmaar (Richarlison, pen)

Tottenham lead!

They win a penalty and after a long lay-off it's Richarlison who steps up. He dispatches his spot-kick to the relief of the home crowd.

20:12

Spurs searching for a breakthrough

Werner’s exit meant a switch for Moore from the right flank to the left, where he prefers to play and made an instant impact with a delightful pass to Johnson, whose shot was blocked, a teasing cross almost turned in by Bergvall and a jinking run. It lifted the mood.
20:09

GOAL! Fenerbahce 1-1 Man United (Youssef En-Nesyri)

Fenerbahce are level!

It's a wonderful cross from Saint-Maximin and En-Nesyri cannot miss with his header from four yards. Game on!

20:07

Fenerbahce 0-1 Man United

Some sloppy passing at the start of this second half as both teams are guilty of giving the ball away cheaply.

A few signs of frustration from the home crowd too.

20:00

Can United finish the job?

Holding on to a lead has been a problem for United under Ten Hag but he will be relatively happy with what he has seen from his team so far tonight.

They are halfway to picking up their first European win of the season.

19:55

Onana to the rescue

Onana's last trip to Turkey was disastrous as he was at fault for multiple goals against Galatasaray.

But the Cameroonian goalkeeper looks to have turned a corner at Old Trafford, and that first half double save was breathtaking.

19:48

HALF TIME: Fenerbahce 0-1 Man United

There goes the whistle and it's so far so good for United.

Eriksen with the only goal of the first half, but the Red Devils have Onana to thank for pulling off a stunning double save to maintain their advantage.

19:46

Fenerbahce 0-1 Man United

Just one minute of added time.

19:46

United just trying to see this out until half time now.

It's been a quiet few minutes and that will suit the visitors just fine.

19:44

Werner struggling at Spurs

Timo Werner is suffering a crisis of confidence. Played clean through by Lucas Bergvall, he hurried his shot, failed to generate any power and aimed it tamely straight at the keeper. Then Richarlison set him clear. This one more difficult, on the run from an angle, and Werner sliced it wide with his left foot.
Then gave a simple pass away and sparked a dangerous counter by AZ. To his credit, Werner never stops running or giving his all but he desperately needs a goal.

19:42

'Premier League misses Mourinho'

Quite funny watching Jose Mourinho’s technical area because he’s going right through his emotional repertoire. The latest a case of being totally bewildered with mouth agape - and a slight chuckle - as Andre Onana produced two world class saves mili-seconds apart to deny Youssef En-Nesyri.
Say what you want about Mourinho but the Premier League is worse off for entertainment value with him gone.
epa11681078 Fenerbahce head coach Jose Mourinho gestures on the touchline during the UEFA Europa League soccer match between Fenerbahce SK and Manchester United, in Istanbul, Turkey, 24 October 2024. EPA/TOLGA BOZOGLU

19:39

DOUBLE SAVE! Fenerbahce 0-1 Man United

How have Fenerbahce not equalised? Andre Onana, take a bow!

The ball gets crossed in and a powerful header comes in which Onana tips away. He gets straight back to his feet and as the ball comes back in he's needed again to tip another header over the bar.

That was phenomenal goalkeeping.

19:37

Fenerbahce 0-1 Man United

The good and the bad of Zirkzee in the space of a few seconds.

He turns away from his man brilliantly and had Rashford haring away to his right. The pass is massively overhit, though, and goes straight through to the goalkeeper.

19:33

Fenerbahce 0-1 Man United

It's been a hit and miss first half from Rashford so far as he plays a cross-field pass way behind his intended team-mate. Onana mops up and there is no damage done.

Meanwhile, Eriksen has been outstanding in the middle of the park so far.

Soccer Football - Europa League - Fenerbahce v Manchester United - Sukru Saracoglu Stadium, Istanbul, Turkey - October 24, 2024 Manchester United's Christian Eriksen celebrates scoring their first goal with Manchester United's Marcus Rashford REUTERS/Murad Sezer

19:30

Still goalless at Spurs

Quite subdued at Spurs. Home team in complete control. AZ deep and playing on the counter. Few chances. Moore headed wide early and Werner has just fluffed a chance, played clean through by Bergvall, tame effort straight at the keeper.
19:28

Fenerhahce 0-1 Man United

Slight concern here for United as Zirkzee requires treatment.

He's back to his feet for now.

19:25

CLOSE! Fenerbahce 0-1 Man United

Fenerbahce look destined to equalise as the ball is crossed in and beats Onana's despairing dive.

But Ugarte just gets back in time to get his body in the way of a shot and the ball dribbles into the hands of Onana as he gets back to his feet.

Outstanding defensive work from the Uruguayan midfielder.

19:24

CLOSE! Fenerbahce 0-1 Man United

So nearly a second for United!

Excellent work from Eriksen who strides forward and then passes to Rashford.

The winger cuts inside and tries to clip his shot into the far corner but it goes a yard wide of the target.

19:22

SAVE! Fenerbahce 0-1 Man United

Fenerbahce work the ball to the edge of the box and Tadic lets fly but it's a tame effort that's easily held by Onana.

He'll be happy to deal with those sorts of efforts all evening.

19:19

Eriksen comes up trumps

Christian Eriksen said last night that he won’t have any say on whether he gets to stay at Manchester United beyond the end of this season when his contract runs out.
If he keeps scoring - or assisting like the two he delivered in Porto - the club won’t have much choice but to keep the in-form man. Do me a favour, Christian!
epa11681027 Christian Eriksen of Manchester United celebrates after scoring the opening goal during the UEFA Europa League soccer match between Fenerbahce SK and Manchester United, in Istanbul, Turkey, 24 October 2024. EPA/TOLGA BOZOGLU

19:17

GOAL! Fenerbahce 0-1 Man United (Christian Eriksen)

One attack, one goal!

A fine counter-attack as Ugarte wins the ball back then sets Garnacho away.

His cut back is laid off by Zirkzee to Eriksen who fires home from the edge of the box. That will settle some nerves for United.

19:15

BOOKED! Fenerbahce 0-0 Man United

Marcus Rashford is the first player into the book as he breaks up a promising attack.

A simple decision for the referee that one.

19:13

Fenerbahce 0-0 Man United

Saint-Maximin heavily involved so far but United handling him at the moment.

United yet to offer much in attack themselves, though.

Soccer Football - Europa League - Fenerbahce v Manchester United - Sukru Saracoglu Stadium, Istanbul, Turkey - October 24, 2024 Fenerbahce's Allan Saint-Maximin in action with Manchester United's Diogo Dalot REUTERS/Umit Bektas

19:09

Fenerbahce 0-0 Man United

It's the home side on the front foot so far and they force a corner.

The ball drops to Fred just inside the area but it's bouncing and he puts his effort miles over the bar.

19:07

CHANCE! Fenerbahce 0-0 Man United

First opening is for Fenerbahce as they get in down the right hand side.

The ball should be crossed in, but they choose to shoot and can only find the side-netting.

19:05

Fenerbahce 0-0 Man United

Premier League fans will remember Allan Saint-Maximin and he skips past Zirkzee with ease.

The home crowd liked that.

Quiet start here on the pitch, anything but in the stands.

Fenerbahce 0-0 Man United

It is so loud in the stadium I imagine the players can hardly hear themselves think.

18:47

Will Ten Hag's tactical gamble pay off?

Ten Hag playing Mazraoui as a No10 has certainly raised a few eyebrows.

If it works, he'll look like a genius. If it doesn't then he can expect plenty of criticism.

'Onana in wind-up merchant mode'

Rasmus Hojlund and Casemiro are both warming up with the subs as normal and don’t look to be in any great discomfort. We’ll be able to learn more after the match from Ten Hag on if either are carrying knocks but having neither available to start in a game such as this one stings.
Meanwhile, I thoroughly enjoyed Andre Onana blowing a kiss to the Fenerbahce fans behind the goal which seemed to, as expected, wind them up. Last time he was playing for United in Turkey it was a complete disaster and he was culpable for calamitous mistakes that gifted Galatasaray their goals on the night. He’s here tonight with a different kind of swagger.

Scholes: 'Mourinho was never right for United'

Mourinho was sacked after just two years at United, but Paul Scholes is not convinced he was ever the right man for the Old Trafford hotseat.

I thought he was always prickly. Attitude wasn’t always great towards the people he was working with. I never felt it was the right match at the time. He did well, won trophies, finished second as he reminded us but I never felt it was right.
I don’t think he was fully committed to Manchester. There were rumours of him staying at a hotel, he didn’t rent a house, buy a house, travelled up and down on the train all the time. It was a tough job for him. I don’t think it was a match made in heaven but got a couples of trophies.

Scholes: 'Ferguson axe is distasteful'

It was confirmed last week that Sir Alex Ferguson's ambassadorial role at United has been axed amid cost-cutting at the club.

Paul Scholes has reacted to the news this evening and has labelled the move 'distasteful'.

I thought it was a little bit distasteful for what that man has done for the club. Almost a little bit disrespectful but they’re new owners and new owners makes changes and they think what they’re doing is best for the club.
If they think they can save whatever money I know it’s been talked about £2million, if they think they can use it elsewhere then so be it. This club owes a lot to SAF, It’s where it is now mainly because of the success he had for so many years.
The timing of it was poor because you think they’re in a really bad run of form, could you have waited or done it before the season started, at the end of the season. The publicity wasn’t great around but SAF will be fine he will go on and still be the best ambassador the club has had.
18:20

United continue to put their faith in youth

United have named three academy stars in their squad for tonight's game.

Will we see any of them come off the bench in what promises to be a hostile atmosphere?

18:15

Fred and Amrabat want to 'kill' their old club tonight

Fred and Sofyan Amrabat may still have fond memories of their time at United, but don't expect them to hold anything back tonight.

18:13

'Just the NINE changes for Spurs'

It’s nine changes for Spurs. Only Maddison and Udogie survive from the West Ham win. Maddison, who was replaced at half-time on Saturday is captain but that won’t deflect from the feeling this has the look of a reserve team and his place in the first team suddenly feels under threat. Sarr, who came on to replace him, is on the bench.
Mikey Moore starts on the right wing for the second Europa League tie in a row. Moore, 17, was excellent in Budapest against Ferencvaros.

Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho will be either side of Joshua Zirkzee, with Rasmus Hojlund only on the bench after recently returning from injury.

It appears Lisandro Martinez will play at left back, with Victor Lindelof likely to partner Matthijs de Ligt in central defence.

United should expect drama in Turkey

Things have not always gone to plan when United have travelled to Turkey, and they are unlikely to have things all their own way tonight.

'Set off sooner, AZ Alkmaar!'

All eyes on the traffic after Tottenham’s last two European home games (against Milan & Qarabag) delayed because the visitors were late to arrive at the stadium. Looks quiet out there on the streets of North London at the moment. AZ are coming from the same hotel as Qarabag came from last month… hopefully they set off sooner.

All smiles at Tottenham

Tottenham thrashed West Ham 4-1 on the weekend, so it is little surprise their players appear in great spirits ahead of tonight's game.

The stage is set

We are now just under 90 minutes away from kick-off, with team news on the way shortly.

Jose Mourinho still holding out for another Premier League medal

Mourinho was in fine form at his press conference yesterday, and even aimed a dig at Man City amid their legal battle with the Premier League as he joked that he may still get a fourth winner's medal if Pep Guardiola's side are stripped of their titles.

United finished second to City in 2017-18, and Mourinho seems to be holding out hope that they may yet be upgraded to champions.

Can Tottenham make it three wins from three?

Tottenham host AZ Alkmaar tonight looking to make it three wins from three in Europe.

They will have to do so without their captain Son Heung-min who will not be risked after recently returning from injury.

'Calm before the storm... or not!'

Calm before the storm inside the stadium right now with just under two hours until kick-off but it was far from it outside. As you can see from the video below it has been getting very tasty among the Fenerbahce fans with flares lighting up the night sky.
United fans haven’t been shy in singing throughout the city in the bars and restaurants but this, as it so often does in Turkey, have the hallmarks of an incredibly febrile atmosphere for Erik ten Hag and his players. I just hope they are ready for it.

17:15

Pressure still on Erik ten Hag

United returned to winning ways by beating Brentford 2-1 on Saturday but must now start to build some momentum.

A defeat tonight would put them back to square one and ramp up the pressure on Erik ten Hag again.

Can Mourinho come back to haunt Man United?

Jose Mourinho spent two years at Old Trafford between 2016 and 2018, but is now plotting United's downfall.

So, how does he tend to fare against his former clubs?

17:09

Good evening!

Who's ready for some more European action?

That's right, we've got Manchester United and Tottenham playing tonight, and United fans might just recognise a familiar face in the opposition dugout...
