This live blog has now closed.
That's it from us at Portman Road as I shoot off to hear Unai Emery and Kieran McKenna's post-match thoughts.
A brilliant game of football and probably a fair result, although Ipswich may feel like they edged it with their late pressure.
Aston Villa stay fifth with the draw, while Ipswich rise to 15th.
Thaks again for following us and enjoy the rest of your evening!
A tale of two English strikers
All four goals were scored by Englishman today, with Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers scoring for Aston Villa, while Liam Delap netted his second and third goals of the season for Ipswich.
There was so much talent on display out there and it would now be a surprise if Rogers doesn't join his club team-mate in next month's England squad.
FULL TIME: Ipswich 2-2 Aston Villa
And that's that! What a game of football that was, as both sides threw everything at it, but the points are shared.
Two goals from Liam Delap help Ipswich secure their fourth successive draw after Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins netted for Aston Villa.
It could've been all three for the hosts who really pressure their opponents at the end and Kieran McKenna can take plenty of positives from his side's performance.
Villa may be slightly disappointed to drop points against a team tipped for the drop, but this won't be an easy place to come at all this year.
A brilliant game of football and thanks for following it with us!
IPS 2-2 AVL
An Ipswich counter breaks down and Ross Barkley drives forward.
The pitch opens up for him and he decides to shoot. Muric does just about enough, it looked unconvincing, although it may have swerved in the wind.
A triple sub then for the hosts as Hirst, Szmodics and Luongo come on for Delap, Clarke and Morsy.
Five added minutes!
IPS 2-2 AVL
Duran is fouled by Greaves at the edge of the box and it's that man Buendia who steps up to take it.
As a former Norwich player, having just returned from his long term injury and with his first touch, what a story this could be.
Oh... and he's ballooned it miles over the bar. How often does that happen?!!
IPS 2-2 AVL
Brilliant defending from Torres.
Delap does well to hold up the ball again, before Clarke is played in.
The winger squares it to Burns, who perhaps takes a second too long when he's bearing down on goal, with Torres putting in a brilliant sliding block.
That was a 3-on-1 situation though and will Ipswich be made to rue that huge missed opportunity.
IPS 2-2 AVL
Aston Villa are on the ropes here and Ipswich have been given another wind after that goal.
The hosts come forward again before Digne brilliantly to head away under pressure with Tuanzebe lurking.
Clarke then swings in a dangerous free kick that eventually sees Hutchinson blast over.
Just over 10 minutes to go.
IPS 2-2 AVL
The noise inside Portman Road has really ramped up to deafening levels now,
But it's almost disaster as Duran plays in Ramsey, but he fires over from inside the area.
What a game this has been!
Ipswich deserve that equaliser and they are showing they have got plenty to give in the top flight this year.
You feel like there could be another goal in this!
Goal:GOAL! IPS 2-2 AVL (Delap 72)
What a goal and Ipswich are level.
Jack Taylor intercepts the ball and plays a neat pass to Omari Hutchinson.
Liam Delap receives the ball on the left hand touchline and runs towards goal.
He reaches the edge of the area and completely does Diego Carlos as he drops the shoulder before going on his left foot and firing past Emi Martinez.
That is a brilliant goal and it is all about Delap. His second of the day and first Premier League brace.
IPS 1-2 AVL
It's fair to say Jadon Philogene isn't having the East Anglian welcome he could have had if he did choose to join Ipswich in the summer.
He's already gone down twice from challenges and won free kicks, although that second one did look painful as Sam Morsy trod on his foot.
Philogene and referee Stuart Attwell are both on the receiving end of some rather heavy stick from the home faithful.
IPS 1-2 AVL
Ipswich have had pretty much all of the territory so far this half, but Aston Villa have been up to the task.
Martinez is yet to be tested, while they look very organised in what is an increasingly blustery wind.
Ipswich are now turning to the bench, with Burns and Taylor set to come on.
Phillips and Ogebene are off.
IPS 1-2 AVL
Here comes Jhon Duran. The man with four goals in five substitute appearances.
The Colombian replaces Morgan Rogers, who has been brilliant again today.
Jaden Philogene is also interested for Leon Bailey. Philogene famously rejected a move to Ipswich this summer and he is roundly booed as he enters the pitch.
IPS 1-2 AVL
Some patient play from Ipswich so far this half, but Aston Villa are holding firm.
They appeal for a handball as Tuanzebe heads one into the box, but it's clearly hit Digne's chest.
Morsy then tries his luck from distance, but he scuffs his shot wide and there is no repeat of last week's stunner at Southampton.
Clarke is becoming increasingly involved on Ipswich's left in this half though and looks a threat every time he gets on the ball.
IPS 1-2 AVL
Ipswich are enjoying a good spell early in the second half here.
They've not tested Martinez as of yet, but the hosts are having most of the ball and Aston Villa are looking a little stretched.
Rogers has just committed three fouls in quick succession, demonstrating his frustration, but he has so far avoided a booking.
Tuanzebe is then booked for fouling Tielemans as Villa broke.
IPS 1-2 AVL
A nice move to start the second half sees Ramsey in down the left.
He finds Rogrs at the edge of the box, but Ipswich manage to deal with it as Ogbeene bursts away.
He's brought down, before Digne kicks the ball away and is subsequently booked after the Ipswich players remind Stuart Atwell, much to the delight of the home faithful.
15 minutes to recover
Well, that really was a breathtaking half of football as both sides went for it from the off.
Villa's attacking play looks so dangerous, but whenever Ipswich break, they are causing the visitors a whole host of problems and you feel like there are more goals in this.
Everyone almost just needs a moment to recover from that intensity - which really ramped up towards the end - but we've just a very entertaining moment as part of the half-time entertainment.
Two Ipswich fans are competing in a quiz on the pitch, but when one was asked who his favourite player was, he simply said: 'I don't have one.'
He's subsequently got his first three questions wrong!
Half Time - IPS 1-2 AVL
Wow, what a half of football that was.
Ipswich were straight out of the blocks with Liam Delap's fine finish from their first foray forward on eight minutes putting them ahead.
However, Aston Villa quickly regained their composure and proceeded to dominate much of the ball.
They equalised through Morgan Rogers after a poor clearance from Jacob Greaves, before Ollie Watkins headed them in front after a great team move.
Villa probably deserve their lead, but Ipswich are well in this and forced Emi Martinez into two brilliant saves just before the break as they enjoyed a good spell of pressure.
IPS 1-2 AVL
Martinez collects a cross on the second attempt, but is now down after taking a nasty knock to the head.
While we wait, here's another look at that second goal from Aston Villa.
A brilliant, patient move, before Watkins ruthlessly headed home.
They deserve the lead, but Ipswich are having a good 10-minute spell here, creating a couple of big chances.
IPS 1-2 AVL
What a save from Martinez!
Ipswich break again and Davis feeds Delap in acres of space.
He's clean through on goal, but somehow Martinez pulls off a stunning save with his feet, akin to his block in the World Cup final.
He is mobbed by his team-mates and waves his arm in the air in celebration.
The Argentine really is a special goalkeeper.
IPS 1-2 AVL
If there's one thing about this Ipswich side, it's that they'll never give up.
Leif Davis whips in a free kick and his ball is celared, but it comes to Kalvin Phillips on the edge of the area.
The Man City loanee fires a fierce efffort at goal and Emi Martinez produces a brilliant diving save to keep his side ahead.
This has been an all-action first half.
Goal:GOAL: IPS 1-2 AVL (Watkins 32)
And just like that Villa are in front.
This is a brilliant goal from Emery's side. They're so patient with their build-up play outside the area before Bailey eventually decides to take on Davis and floats up a perfect cross.
The in-form Watkins is there and he heads back across goal and past Muric.
You have to say that's deserved and the away fans are in dreamland over in the far corner.
IPS 1-1 AVL
For now, Ipswich are remaining firm despite Aston Villa's pressure.
Kieran McKenna has just called over his skipper Sam Morsy for a quick chat, presumably in an attempt to help his side get some control in what is so far a hectic encounter.
Villa look so dangerous every time they come forward with Morgan Rogers, Leon Bailey and Jacob Ramsey all rotating behind Ollie Watkins.
Goal:GOAL! IPS 1-1 AVL (Rogers 15)
Oh no Jacob Greaves what have you done!
Just after I was praising his defending, an almighty error from the Ipswich man has let Aston Villa back in the game.
With Ollie Watkins running in behind, Greaves did brilliantly to shield the ball, but as he attempted to clear it with his left foot his clearance was scuffed.
The ball landed at the feet of Morgan Rogers inside the penalty area, and after a quick one-two with Watkins, the in-form attacking midfielder fired home.
A disaster at the back but what an exciting start as Axel Tuanzebe heads over at the other end.
Brilliant start for Ipswich
Aston Villa had all of the ball for the first seven minutes of this clash, but Ipswich showed the clinicality they will need to compete in the Premier League.
Hutchinson was the man at the centre of the original foray forward and looking back, I'm not sure what Konsa was doing when he lost the ball there.
A pinpoint cross from Clarke and an expertly finished effort with Delap's left foot for his second Ipswich goal since his summer move from Man City.
Portamn Road is bouncing!
Goal:GOAL!! IPS 1-0 AVL (Delap 8)
Portman Road erupts!
Ipswich have their first foray forward but Morsy's shot is blocked by his own man.
Villa don't clear though and Phillips wins the ball back off Konsa and feeds in Clarke.
The former Sunderland man then expertly squares to Delap, who tucks home with aplomb, although Martinez did get a hand on it.
What a start for the hosts!
Tyrone Mings update
Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings, who has been absent since the start of last season through injury, is here at Portman Road, in what is a welcome sight for Aston Villa fans.
Unai Emery revealed earlier this week that the defender had been 'training very well', and the plan was to get him some minutes in Villa's Under 21 side next week.
He also revealed he expected both Mings and fellow long-term absentee Boubacar Kamara to return following the October international break.
Super-sub Duran
Despite hinting that he may be ready to play them together, Unai Emery has resisted the temptation to start Jhon Duran and Ollie Watkins together this afternoon.
The Colombian has enjoyed a stunning start to the season with four goals in five substitute appearances.
Watkins hasn't done too badly himself, netting three times, meaning Unai Emery's attacking riches are the envy of many.
McKenna 'encouraged' by start
Here's what the Ipswich boss had to say in his pre-match notes in the matchday programme.
We come into this game unbeaten in three Premier League outings and, while we are aware that we are still looking for our first win back at this level, an unbeaten run like this is an encouraging sign for us.
We are very pleased to be back at home after two difficult away trips to the south coast, where we came away with very positive results and performances as we continue to grow into the demands and expectations of playing at this level.
Big seven days ahead for Villa
Today marks the start of a crunch week for Unai Emery's side, and one that even the most die-hard of Aston Villa fans couldn't have imagined just a few years ago.
After today, European giants Bayern Munich come to town on Wednesday, before Villa then travel to Old Trafford to face Man United next Sunday.
Every inch of Emery's management skills and his squad's quality will be tested, but it could prove to be one of the club's most memorable weeks in the modern era.
Will Ipswich end wait for PL win?
It's been 22 years since Ipswich were last in the Premier League, with their last victory in the top flight coming against Middlesbrough in April 2002.
The Tractor Boys were relegated a month later, and every one of the next 22 years was spent outside the top flight.
They've put in some solid performances so far, but boy would Kieran McKenna love to end that long, long wait today, albeit it won't be an easy task against a top quality Aston Villa side.
McGinn blow for Villa
Aston Villa captain John McGinn is sidelined after injuring his hamstring against Wolves, with Leon Bailey coming into replace the Scot.
Lucas Digne is passed fit after coming off at half-time this week, and it's unchanged elsewhere.
Unai Emery will be hoping for a much-improved first half performance on last week.
Phillips boost for Ipswich
The return to full fitness of Kalvin Phillips is a huge boost for Ipswich as the Man City loanee looks to get his career back on track.
In total, Kieran McKenna has made three changes with Phillips, Clarke and Ogbene replacing Cajuste, Szmodics and Burns.
After a brutal introduction against Liverpool and Man City, McKenna's men have picked up three successive draws against Fulham, Brighton and Southampton.
THE THRILLER WITH THE VILLA
A great cover on today's matchday programme at Portman Road.
The atmosphere is building outside the ground, with a fair few Villa fans on my train in high spirits ahead of the clash.
It's quiet inside for now, but you can be sure that will change come kick off.
The Villa players have just been out inspecting the manicured surface. There can't be many complaints...
Last time out
Aston Villa are fast becoming this season's comeback kings.
Just a week after coming from behind to beat Everton 3-2, Unai Emery's side produced a similar recovery against Wolves last time out.
A below-par first half saw the Villans 1-0 down, but goals from Ollie Watkins, Ezri Konsa and that man Jhon Duran in the final 17 minutes turned the tide and made it three league wins a row.
You can catch up on the highlights from last weekend's clash below...
Will Duran start?
Unai Emery has hinted he could look to partner Ollie Watkins with Jhon Duran, Aston Villa's man of the moment, moving forward.
Duran has stolen the headlines with a string of heroic substitute appearances for Villa in recent weeks.
So, will we see the deadly duo link up today?
Before the team news is released, why not have a look at this brilliant Mail+ piece from Tom Collomosse on Villa's king of chaos?
Phillips in contention
Kieran McKenna has revealed Kalvin Phillips is back fit and could be available for selection today.
'Kalvin [Phillips] has trained with the group today so we'll make a judgement on how many minutes he's available for,' he said.
'Nathan [Broadhead] has been training well for the last week or so, so we've almost got a fully fit squad.
'The group is getting stronger in numbers and every other capacity so we've got good depth at the moment.'
McKenna miracles
What a job this man has done in restoring this great club.
Ask him what style he wants his Ipswich side to play this season, though, and he will admit he is currently not too sure.
They are still adapting to the Premier League, he told Sky Sports, and as a result, the Tractor Boys are looking to find their feet first.
Combine that with the high turnover in players over the summer and it really does feel like he's starting back from square one.
Afternoon!
Hello, all! Welcome along to Mail Sport's first live blog of the day for this afternoon's early kick-off at Portman Road.
I think it's fair to say that Ipswich are already defying a few doubters in their first season back in the Premier League.
Kieran McKenna's side have picked up three points so far and have lost just two of their first five games. Not too bad at all!
Today's visitors, however, will surely pose another tough test. Unai Emery and his men are fifth, one point adrift of the top four.
