16:22

That's it from me!

Thanks for joining me this afternoon, folks.

A massive afternoon with some late twists, big results and, of course, goals from Erling Haaland.

There's still two games to come this evening as Aston Villa welcome Everton to Villa Park while Chelsea face Bournemouth.

Until next time!

16:21

Hudson-Odoi speaks after the winner

Callum Hudson-Odoi has had his say after scoring the winner for Nottingham Forest against Liverpool...

“We had fresh legs to run in behind and cause them problem. [Nuno] told us to go and express ourselves - and that’s what we did. We’re buzzing with the win. As soon as I hit it, I knew there was a good chance of it going in.”

16:19

'A pleasure to play with'

Here's what Jack Grealish had to say about Erling Haaland to Sky Sports...

"The second showed what he is all about. He used his body well and a brilliant finish. It is a pleasure to play with him and hopefully he can continue."
16:13

Post-game coverage to come...

Stay tuned for all the reaction from the players, managers and pundits.

Would love to hear Erling Haaland's thoughts on coming so, so close to that third-straight hat-trick.

16:07

So, what do the results mean for the table?

Manchester City remain in outright first thanks to their 2-1 win over Brentford and are now the only team remaining with a perfect record.

Liverpool remain second after the loss to Forest on nine points.

As for Forest, they now sit in fourth on eight points.

Brighton's 0-0 draw leaves them in third on eight points as well, but have a superior goal difference to Forest.

As for Ipswich, their draw against Brighton kept them in 17th as their wait for a first win of the season rumbles on.

Fulham sit in 11th while West Ham are in 14th after they played out a 1-1 draw.

Crystal Palace and Leicester City remain winless this season, with the Eagles in 16th and the Foxes in 15th thanks to their 2-2 draw.

16:03

That's all she wrote...

Well, what an afternoon that was!

Manchester City maintained their perfect start to the season but it wasn't all smooth sailing. Yoane Wissa scored after just 22 seconds to put Brentford in front, but Erling Haaland proved he is inevitable and scored twice. But there was to be no third-straight hat-trick, despite Haaland hitting the post in the second half.

Arne Slot suffered his first league defeat as Liverpool boss with Callum Hudson-Odoi proving to be the difference for Nottingham Forest. It's a massive win for Forest, who remain unbeaten after four games and now sit fourth on the table.

Crystal Palace ensured Steve Cooper's wait for his first win as Leicester City boss will continue as Jean-Philippe Mateta's second-half double helped the home side secure a 2-2 draw at Selhurst Park.

Fulham were made to pay for being wasteful as Danny Ings popped up with 30 seconds remaining to cancel out Raul Jimenez's first half goal. A brutal lesson for Marco Silva's side on needing to put their chances away.

Brighton suffered a similar story but avoided late heartbreak as their contest against Ipswich Town finished 0-0.

15:57

There goes the full-time whistle!

Brighton 0-0 Ipswich

Crystal Palace 2-2 Leicester City

Fulham 1-1 West Ham United

Liverpool 0-1 Nottingham Forest

Manchester City 2-1 Brentford

15:52, 95'

GOAL! Fulham 1-1 West Ham United (Danny Ings)

With 30 seconds left on the clock, Danny Ings has popped up to save West Ham!! Unbelievable scenes at Craven Cottage!

15:52, 92'

GOAL! Crystal Palace 2-2 Leicester City (Jean-Philippe Mateta)

Palace have done it! Mateta pulled the Eagles level from the penalty spot after Ismaila Sarr was brought down inside the box by Conor Coady.

Mateta made no mistake from the spot to pull off a stunning comeback. Can they find a third?

15:47, 80'

HAALAND HITS THE POST!

You can't get ANY closer than that!!

Erling Haaland was inches away from netting his third-straight hat-trick, but he smacked his strike against the post.

The rebound also fell his way, but the Norwegian's follow-up effort was blocked.

Was that the moment, or will Haaland get one final chance?

15:42, 81'

Any danger of a goal?

Ipswich Town are slowly getting closer at the Amex Stadium against Brighton.

Omari Hutchinson came close a few minutes ago but Bart Verbruggen made a crucial save.

With ten minutes to go, will we have a late twist?

15:40, 75'

Haaland goes close... but no history just yet

Apologies for the lack of updates on Haaland's bid for history.

City are now turning the screw on the Bees, who are slowly getting caught on the counter as they chase an equaliser.

Jack Grealish came close from 20 yards but Mark Flekken turned his strike past the post.

Haaland nearly got his hat-trick when he worked space inside Brentford's box but Flekken was on hand to deny him.

City seem the likelier of the sides to score the next goal.

15:32, 72'

GOAL! Liverpool 0-1 Nottingham Forest (Callum Hudson-Odoi)

What a strike from Hudson-Odoi! Anthony Elanga switches the ball from one side to the other right into the path of Hudson-Odoi.

He picks up the ball, drives towards Connor Bradley before cutting in onto his right foot.

Hudson-Odoi then unleashes a curling effort from the edge of the box that Alisson doesn't even dive for. We have an upset on the cards at Anfield!

15:29, 66'

Get on with it, will you?

Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels has picked up a booking for... time wasting.

There's a lot of time left in this one, so it's a brave move from Sels to try and kill the clock as early as the 66th minute.

Will it prove to be foolish? Let's wait and see...

15:22, 62'

Slot turns to the bench

ON: Connor Bradley, Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez

OFF: Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Alexis Mac Allister

Well, those two changes I flagged have come to fruition as Gakpo and Nunez enter the fray in place of Diaz and Jota.

Bradley slots in at right back, with Alexander-Arnold pushing into midfield in place of Mac Allister.

15:20, 60'

Who will break the deadlock?

Liverpool are yet to find a way past what's proving to be a very resolute Nottingham Forest side.

Salah had a decent chance early in the second half but was unable to finish as Sels diverted his strike away for a corner.

Arne Slot has Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez on the bench. Could they be the ones to open the scoring?

15:17, 55'

SO CLOSE!

Liam Delap was INCHES away from scoring what may have been a goal of the season contender.

The Ipswich forward picked up the ball from deep and continued to run forward.

He soon found himself at the six-yard box, but his shot came off the woodwork. So close for McKenna's side in what would have been an undeserved lead based off the balance of play.

15:10, 47'

GOAL! Crystal Palace 1-2 Leicester City (Jean-Philippe Mateta)

Game on! Mateta has got Palace back into the game.

The French forward produced a tidy finish from close range into the bottom corner, but it was initially flagged offside.

A VAR review later deemed Mateta was, in fact, onside, meaning his goal counted! Can the Eagles find an equaliser?

15:06, 46'

GOAL! Crystal Palace 0-2 Leicester City (Stephy Mavididi)

That is some poor defending from Palace. James Justin whipped in a cross that caused serious chaos at the back for the Eagles.

A whiffed Palace clearance only set the ball into the air and straight to Mavididi, who smashed it home.

15:01

And breathe...

Well, wasn't that a wild 45 minutes across the grounds.

Brentford scored the fastest goal this season - 22 seconds - to take a shock lead over Manchester City.

But Erling Haaland scored twice in 13 minutes to put City in front and is now on the brink of a third-straight hat-trick. Every time I type out that sentence, it just doesn't feel real. An absolute goal machine.

At Anfield, Liverpool are yet to find the breakthrough but are knocking on the door against Forest.

Jamie Vardy did what he does best and fired Leicester in front over Crystal Palace, while Fulham lead West Ham thanks to Raul Jimenez.

Brighton and Ipswich remains goalless, but by all accounts it's the Seagulls who are the dominant outfit.

I'm too afraid to make any predictions for the second half. There's too much room for chaos! I will go out on a limb here and say I don't think Haaland gets his hat-trick.

Drop your best predictons in the comment section!

14:53

There goes the half-time whistle!

Brighton 0-0 Ipswich

Crystal Palace 0-1 Leicester City

Fulham 1-0 West Ham United

Liverpool 0-0 Nottingham Forest

Manchester City 2-1 Brentford

14:50, 45'

Wissa woes

Not good news for Brentford. Goalscorer Yoane Wissa has been forced to come off with what looks to be an ankle injury after a nasty tackle from Mateo Kovacic, which earned the City man a yellow card.

Kevin Schade comes on in place of Wissa.

It's a big blow for the Bees given Wissa's importance to their counter-attacks.

14:48, 44'

Moreno goes into the book

Nottingham Forest's Alex Moreno will be walking a disciplinary tightrope for the remainder of the game after he brought down Diogo Jota on the halfway line as Liverpool looked to break forward.

14:45, 43'

Almost Sel-ling them short!

Matz Sels is a lucky, lucky man.

A cross came to Luis Diaz at the far post, but there was too much juice on it and he could only send a looping header towards goal.

It seemed like a regulation catch, but Sels DROPPED the ball, it bounded through his legs and almost dribbled over the line.

Somehow the Forest goalkeeper recovered to make the save but goodness gracious, that was almost a serious howler.

14:43, 40'

Haaland on brink of history...

If Haaland can score another, he will be the first player since 1946 to score three or more goals in three straight games in the same season.

Even better, if he completes his hat-trick against Brentford, Haaland will have scored his 100th goal for City.

Anyone at the Etihad have a cricket bat handy for Haaland to raise if he gets there?

14:34, 32'

GOAL! Manchester City 2-1 Brentford (Erling Haaland)

Goodness me, he couldn't score ANOTHER hat-trick, could he?

Haaland puts City into the lead thanks to an assist from Ederson.

The City gloveman launched a long ball up top and Haaland showed off strong physicality to brush Ethan Punnock off of him.

Bearing down on goal, Haaland made no mistake with an unerring finish. He's got plenty of time left for a third-consecutive hat-trick.

14:25, 24'

GOAL! Fulham 1-0 West Ham United (Raul Jimenez)

It's the Cottagers who take the lead as Raul Jimenez puts them in front.

But it was the work of Emile Smith-Rowe that helped create the goal, picking up the ball from deep and playing a pass into the box.

Jimenez made no mistake with the finish past Alphonse Areola.

14:23, 21'

GOAL! Crystal Palace 0-1 Leicester City (Jamie Vardy)

Jamie Vardy just loves goals, doesn't he?

The Leicester icon ran onto a perfect through ball and rounded Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson en route to slotting home.

Sadly, I can confirm Vardy did NOT recreate *that* eagle celebration. Maybe he might pull it if he scores a second...

14:22, 20'

GOAL! Manchester City 1-1 Brentford (Erling Haaland)

Who else could it have been?

Haaland provided the equaliser thanks to some handy work from Kevin De Bruyne inside the box.

The Belgian eventually was stopped inside the box but the ball found its way to Haaland, who fired an effort at goal. It took a deflection but, most importantly, it found the back of the net.

Will City kick on from here?

14:19, 17'

Off the woodwork!

Luis Diaz hits the post! So close for Liverpool against Forest. Still remains 0-0 at Anfield

14:15, 7'

Morsy goes into the book

Ipswich's Sam Morsy has copped the first yellow card across the 3pm kick-offs after a mistimed tackle. The score remains 0-0 between Brighton and Ipswich.

14:14, 10'

Bees running riot in Manchester City

It's one-way traffic at the Etihad. Nathaniel Collins was unmarked from a corner but smacked his effort from six yards out straight at Ederson.

Prior to that, Bryan Mbuemo had a golden chance when he was slipped behind City's defence but Rico Lewis came to the rescue to clear the ball.

14:08

He scored HOW quickly?!

Wissa's goal came after just 22 SECONDS.

Some work to do for Pep Guardiola's side...

14:03, 1'

GOAL! Manchester City 0-1 Brentford - Yoane Wissa

Well, that didn't take long! Wissa has given Brentford a shock lead over Manchester City at the Etihad.

It was quite a scrappy goal, as a ball was floated over from the right wing to the far post. City failed to clear their lines and Wissa was on hand to head the ball into an empty net.

What a start for the Bees!

14:01, 1'

And we are underway!

Boy, it's good to have the Premier League back. How long until the first goal?

13:49

So... you're saying there's a chance?

Now, it's highly unlikely this scenario happens, but it's not out of the realm of possiblity.

Should Liverpool and Manchester City lose, a Brighton win over Ipswich would take them top of the table.

The Seagulls sit on 7 points, while City and Liverpool are on 9.

It's already been a brillant start to life as Seagulls boss for Fabian Hurzeler having won Manager of the Month for August. Can he keep the good times rolling?

13:39

For the Championship enthusiasts...

It's not just the Premier League in action, with the second tier also having a few early kick-offs.

Luton nicked a vital 1-0 win away against Millwall, while a 10-man Burnley beat Leeds 1-0 at Elland Road.

It was Luton's first win of the season, while Burnley won their third game under Scott Parker.

13:30

Almost 30 minutes until kick-off!

We're inching ever closer to kick-off across the country.

I hope everyone remembered to get their FPL teams in order too. Had quite a mad scramble this morning of what I wanted to do, only to stick with the exact same team.

Feel free to share your predictions in the comments section. Who will win? Who will be amongst the goals?

13:21

Red Devils about to be back in the win column

Ok, they're not part of the 3pm crew, but worth acknowledging Manchester United are on the brink of securing their second win of the season.

They're 2-0 up over a 10-man Southampton, with only second-half stoppage time remaining.

A much-needed win for Erik ten Hag.

13:09

Anyone for a £1 pint?

They may be kicking off at 3pm, but if you're a Fulham fan and weren't at the game early, you missed out big time.

The Cottagers offered £1 pints of beer or cans of wine from 12pm to 2pm. No, you don't need to wipe your glasses or your screen.

I don't think you'll find a better deal than that at a Premier League venue at all this season. Or will we?

13:06

Less than an hour to go!

Of the teams in action at 3pm, three are yet to win a game this season: Leicester City, Crystal Palace and Ipswich. In fact, the trio have all drawn once and lost twice.

Feels like as good a day as ever for someone to secure the first win.

13:01

Long time, no see

Jordan Ayew's first match as a Leicester player is... against his old team. Now if Ayew scores, will he celebrate?

13:00

Double debut!

Eddie Nketiah and Max Lacroix make their starting debuts for the Eagles. Will it be a winning one?

12:59

Hammers out to spoil Fulham's party

Here's the West Ham team...

12:58

Here come the Cottagers

Joachim Andersen makes his first start for Fulham this season as Issa Diop drops out. Raul Jimenez also comes in for Rodrigo Muniz...

12:56

Ipswich to earn their first win of the season?

Kieran McKenna is searching for his first win as a Premier League boss. Is this the game he gets it done?

12:54

Brighton's team named

Bad news for FPL managers who had Joao Pedro in their team, as he misses out.

12:53

Here's the Forest line-up

12:52

No surprises for Liverpool

Fancy your chances, Reds fans?

12:51

More team news to follow

All the teams playing at 3pm have dropped their teams. Stay tuned for more!

12:50

Here's Brentford's line-up to take on City...

Can Thomas Frank's side cause an upset?

12:49

Haaland starts!

The Norwegian WILL start for City!

12:48

Perfect runs to continue?

Liverpool and Manchester City remain the only two teams to have enjoyed perfect starts to the Premier League season.

However, City will be up against it when they face Brentford, who are showing no signs of missing Ivan Toney. Bryan Mbuemo has happily taken the mantle of becoming the Bees' main man, with Yoane Wissa playing a starring role too.

Forest may present a tricky test for Slot's Reds too. Morgan Gibbs-White will no doubt be buoyed after spending the international break with England. Can he be the difference maker for the visitors?

12:37

Haaland to play?

Team news from across the grounds is not far away, but one call plenty of football fans will be waiting for is whether Erling Haaland will feature against Brentford.

Haaland was granted compassionate leave by Pep Guardiola after the death of his close friend Ivar Eggja.

Guardiola said they would decide today if Haaland would be 'able, mentally and physically' to play. He did train on Friday, so that may give an indication that he will feature.

12:33

The Premier League is back!

Well, at least the 3pm kick-offs.

In action this afternoon, we have: Liverpool v Nottingham Forest, Manchester City v Brentford, Fulham v West Ham, Crystal Palace v Leicester City and Brighton v Ipswich Town.
