Fulham 1-1 Ipswich: Tractor Boys claim first points of the season

Kieran McKenna's side were held to a 1-1 draw by Fulham at Portman Road, but picked up their first points of the Premier League season, with Liam Delap opening the scoring after 15 minutes, pumping the ball past a helpless Bernd Leno.

Despite his brilliant strike, Adama Traore pulled fulham level soon after, pumping a low cross from Antonee Robinson past Arijanet Muric in goal.

Nottingham Forest 1-1 Wolves: New signing Sam Johnstone dazzles in goal for Wanderers

More reaction coming in now from the City Ground, as Nottingham Forest were held to a 1-1 draw by Wolves.

Gary O'Neil's side claimed their first point of the season thanks to a stunning strike from Jean-Ricner Bellegarde which cancelled out Chris Wood's early goal.

Both sides pushed for a winner in the second half, with Callum Hudson-Odoi having a close chance blocked, while Morgan Gibbs-White had a shot deflected over.

Wolves newcomer, Sam Johnstone, enjoyed a brilliant debut with the former Crystal Palace goalkeeper palming away another header from Wood in the second half to keep the scores level at 1-1.

Sean Dyche: 'It is the third game we have thrown away this season'

Speaking to BBC Match of the Day, Sean Dyche admitted that Everton have now 'thrown away three games this season' after suffering a dramatic late defeat by Bournemouth.

We did so much right until they scored their first goal. I think they had one shot on target before then. The game should have been out of sight. We conceded one and then threw it away. I can't put my finger on it right now - Sean Dyche to BBC Match of the Day.
They kept raining it forward and got their reward in the end. The Premier League you have to play to the last breath of the game and we simply didn't but they did. They were playing it forward and crossing it into the box and we didn't deal with it. Simple stuff but we threw it away. It is the third game we have thrown away this season.
You have to kill teams off at every level, but particularly at this level. Everyone was looking at someone else to deal with things and that is when there is trouble. You could see the body language change. You have to see games through and we have enough experience to do that, but today we didn't.

Seamus Coleman: 'We have to look at ourselves in the mirror'

Everton captain Seamus Coleman has questioned how Everton let Bournemouth back into the game, with the Cherries scoring a trio of late goals to seal a dramatic victory.

We really let ourselves down in front of our fans. We cannot take our foot off the gas at this level. Unfortunately we did that. We cannot be conceding the goals that we did. We have to look at ourselves in the mirror.

FT: Brentford 3-1 Southampton

Bryan Mbeumo dazzled with a brace of goals to help Brentford continue their solid start to the new Premier League season, with the Bees claiming a 3-1 victory against Southampton.

As Ivan Toney watched from the stands - who yesterday agreed a deal to move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli - Brentford took apart Premier League newcomers Southampton to clinch their second win of the 2024-25 campaign.

It was a tough debut for Saints goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, with Yoane Wissa putting a third goal past the former Arsenal shot-stopper before Yukinari Sugawara pulled a goal back for Saints.

Total agony for the Toffees

Everton players slumped to their haunches after the game, with Bournemouth staging a sensational comeback to swipe victory out of their clutches.

FT: Everton 2-3 Bournemouth

Bournemouth broke Everton hearts, coming back to score a trio of late goals to snatch a win away from the Toffees who are still to pick up a point in their opening three league matches.

Everton had taken a 2-0 lead at Goodison, with Michael Keane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin both finding the back of the net and looked like they would go on to claim victory.

But almost out of nowhere, the Toffees gave the game away, with Antoine Semenyo pulling a goal back in the 87th minute.

Lewis Cook followed up in the 92nd minute before Luis Sinisterra scored the winner in the 96th minute.

It means the Toffees will stay rock-bottom of the Premier League table having failed to pick up a single point from their opening three matches.

Leicester are still waiting for their first win of the Premier League campaign after returning to the top-flight this season.

Jamie Vardy appealed for a penalty late on after he appeared to have been pulled down by Youri Tielemans inside the Villa penalty area, but referee David Coote dismissed the claims.

Villa, meanwhile, move to sixth in the Premier League table, having won two games and lost another.

Five big questions for Villa this season...

Villa have started well here at the King Power, but what can we expect from them this season?

The Villans impressed last season, with Unai Emery's side qualifying for the Champions League, having been one of the most exciting teams in the top-flight to watch.

Can they secure Champions League football again this season? Will their players grow tired of Emery's demands? And can they end their trophy drought?

Tom Collomosse delves into what we can expect from Villa below...

Cooper wants Leicester 'to take the game to Villa'

Kick off is fast approaching at the King Power Stadium!

Steve Cooper delivered his pre-match thoughts earlier this week and has instructed his team to take confidence from their performances in the Premier League so far and take the game to Aston Villa today.

The first two games have given us enough moments of belief that we can go and play well and win games at this level. But itā€™s also reminded us that when you donā€™t quite get it right, you can be under the cosh in games and things can go against you - Steve Cooper.
Thatā€™s what weā€™re doing - weā€™ll look at the games closely, but weā€™re really positive in the camp and weā€™re enthused about what we can do this season. Itā€™s a positive culture and that has to be the approach going into every game.
You have to take it game by game but you have to go in there with a really positive mindset about what can be achieved, and no fear of the opposite. Weā€™ll go into every game believing that we can and will win, but weā€™re under no illusions about how small the margins are and what you really need to get over the line.
Weā€™ve got to get it right on Saturday. Weā€™ve got to ensure that we really take the game to Villa and believe in our concepts and the affect they can have on the game. Thatā€™s what weā€™ve been doing in our preparation.

In their last five meetings, both Leicester and Aston Villa have claimed two wins apiece, with both sides playing out a 0-0 draw back in 2019.

Interestingly, the last time these two sides played was back in 2023 at the King Power, with Villa claiming a 2-1 victory against the Foxes.

TOM COLLOMOSSE: A warm reception for Nuno Espirito Santo

Mail Sport's Tom Collomosse is at the City Ground today ahead of Nottingham Forest's clash against Wolves and has been reflecting on Nuno Espirito Santo's return to Nottingham.

Nunoā€™s spell in charge of Wolves is remembered with great fondness by their supporters ā€“ and no wonder. Under the Portuguese, the club twice finished seventh in the Premier League as well as reaching the FA Cup semi-finals and the quarter-finals of the Europa League. There is likely to be a frostier reception for another former Wolves man, though.
Morgan Gibbs-White is celebrating his first call-up to the full England squad but is bound to be booed by the Wolves fans after leaving the club two years ago.

Emery hits out at interim England boss Carsley

Unai Emery has hit out at interim England manager Lee Carsley this week after Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers was called up to England's U21 side.

Emery appeared surprised that his midfielder, 22, was not called up to the senior squad, with Carsley opting to pick several younger stars in his squad for the Three Lions upcoming internationals.

What is a player like Morgan Rogers gaining by playing for the U21s?. I am surprised. I respect that they are not calling him for the first team, but the second team? He is not a player for the second team. Hopefully he will come back here in good shape - Unai Emery
Last year, Ramsey came back injured and barely played all season which was very painful for us and we lost a lot without him. If they had called him for the senior team, I could understand it. Morgan Rogers is a reality now and he is confirming it ā€“ not to play for the U21s.

New signing in the house!

Leicester announced on friday that the club had agreed a loan deal for former Crystal Palace striker Odsonne Edouard.

And it seems the 26-year-old is set to be introduced to fans at the King Power later today!

I canā€™t wait to get started. Iā€™m really excited to be joining a team like Leicester City and to do what I can to help the team in the Premier League this season - Edouard to Leicester's club website.
Thereā€™s a fantastic squad here and Iā€™m confident that the team has what it takes to be successful. Iā€™ll be working hard to make sure I do everything I can to support my team and to show the fans what I can do on the pitch.ā€

Ramsdale starts for Saints!

After arriving at the club in a Ā£25million transfer from Arsenal yesterday, Aaron Ramsdale has been handed his first start between the sticks for the Saints.

Ramsdale had rather hilariously announced he was joining the south coast side while he was dressed up as Hagrid from Harry Potter!

After joining Arsenal from Sheffield United in 2021 for a fee of Ā£26m, Ramsdale would go on to make 89 appearances for the north London outfit while also becoming a fan favourite among fans at the Emirates Stadium.

Speaking on his arrival, he said: 'I'm absolutely delighted.'

Speaking on his lack of game time last season, he said: 'I've had the feeling of sitting on the bench and I don't want to do that again. Playing football, winning games of football, even getting draws away from home against big opposition or when your back's against the wall.'

Breaking:TEAM NEWS: Ipswich vs Fulham

Fulham are unchanged from their victory against Leicester last weekend.

Breaking:TEAM NEWS: Everton vs Bournemouth

Seamus Coleman returns to the Everton starting XI today following a lengthy injury lay-off in place of Roman Dixon.

Meanwhile, Abdoulaye Doucoure makes way for summer signing Iliman Ndaye in midfield.

Andoni Iraola's side are unchanged for the game, following their 1-1 draw against Newcastle.

Speaking on taking on Everton at Goodison Andoni Iraola is hoping his side can turn things around from their 3-0 defeat against the Toffees last season.

We have the experience from past season, I don't know if it was the worst, probably one of the worst games we played for sure. They were better than us, and they deserved to beat us. I hope we also can learn from that experience. I think we are a more solid team now, but even doing good things is not enough to get a result there.
I think even the game against Brighton that, at the end, they lose 3-0. You see the first 50, 60 minutes of that game and they were putting a lot of pressure against Brighton and probably they deserved other things in that game. And I know that the game is going to be difficult. I know it. We have to be ready to defend very well, to not concede anything because they have good threats.

Breaking:TEAM NEWS: Leicester vs Aston Villa

Several changes for Steve Cooper's side now with Caleb Okoli, Oli Skipp, and Jordan Ayew all being handed first league starts this afternoon.

Okoli comes in to the back line for Jannik Vestergaard, while Skipp comes in for Facundo Buonanotte. Ayew comes in for Bobby De Cordova-Reid.

Just one change for Unai Emery's side for today's game with Lamare Bogarde coming in for Matty Cash after he picked up a hamstring injury last weekend.

Brighton equalise!

Meanwhile, in the 12.30pm game, Brighton and Arsenal are knocking lumps out of each other!

After Kai Havertz lobbed Bart Verbruggen in the first-half, the Gunners were sent down to 10-men with Declan Rice being shown a second yellow card for delaying a restart - after he was kicked by Joel Veltman.

Brighton have since taken advantage of the mismatch in numbers and have found an equaliser, with Joao Pedro striking in!

Can Leicester claim their first win?

Fresh off the back of a 4-0 victory against Tranmere in the EFL Cup, Steve Cooper's side are looking to clinch their first victory of the Premier League season against Aston Villa this afternoon.

Steve Cooper's side failed to back up their 1-1 draw against Tottenham during their opening Premier League clash, suffering a 2-1 defeat against Fulham last weekend.

Wout Faes scored the Foxes equaliser during that match, but Fulham found a second gear, sealing victory in the 70th minute at Craven Cottage.

Villa, meanwhile, come into this match also on the back of a 2-0 defeat by Arsenal.

But who are we backing to win this afternoon? Find out more below!
