Man City 4-1 Ipswich - Premier League 3pm RECAP: Erling Haaland hits back with a hat-trick and Spurs fire four past Everton

After witnessing 15 goals in five games, it's time to say goodbye to our coverage of today's 3pm games.

But fear not, the football is not yet over.

Tottenham vice-captain James Maddison has praised team-mate Yves Bissouma following his goalscoring performance in today's 4-0 win over Everton.

Maddison told Sky Sports:

The scoreline is quite devastating when you look at 4-0. I think we thoroughly deserved it. We dominated and we felt we should have had three points last Monday [against Leicester]. We all know Yves' [Bissouma] ability. He is a ridiculous player at times. He has got a skill not many have. The gaffer is a great man with good morals. He [Yves] has to keep working hard. The performance was there on Monday. It was a case of not putting our chances away. It's important you try and put into practice what the manager wants. It's about us trusting him.

Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White speaking to Premier League Productions after scoring in his side's 1-0 win at Southampton:

We stuck to what the manager wanted us to do. I felt like we had control but you knew there was going to be a reaction from Southampton. it's about taking that chance and luckily I did. The original [header] was meant to be a header across the goal and fortunately, it fell to me and I was in the right place. I feel like I need to add more goals and that's what I want to do. We've got the three points and we go home happy.

Fulham were made to work hard for their first win of the season as they edged past newly-promoted Leicester at Craven Cottage.

Emile Smith Rowe scored his first goal for his new club after linking up with Adama Traore to put the home side in front after just 18 minutes.

But Leicester stayed in the game and drew level 20 minutes later thanks to centre back Wout Faes.

Both sides searched for a winner after the break and it was Fulham who found it, with Alex Iwobi on hand to seal all three points for Marco Silva's men.

Morgan Gibbs-White scored the only goal of the game midway through the second half as Forest kept up their unbeaten start.

Meanwhile, that's two 1-0 defeats in a row for the Saints.

Ipswich stunned the Etihad Stadium when Sammie Szmodics fired the away side 1-0 up in the seventh minute.

Unfortunately for the Tractor Boys, they also shocked City into life and it was 3-1 to the home side less than 10 minutes later.

From then on, it was the City cruise all had expected.

A deserved London derby win for the Hammers, who could have scored more had it not been for some shoddy shooting.

Tottenham record their first victory of the season in style.

Meanwhile, Everton sit rock bottom of the Premier League after losing their first two games by an aggregate score of 7-0.

Man City 4-1 Ipswich (Haaland, 88 mins)

Haaland completes his first (presumably not his last) hat-trick of the season with a fierce low strike from 25 yards.

That's his 10th City hat-trick.

City are going top of the table on goal difference.

Tottenham's third goal, scored by Romero following a Maddison assist, made the Argentina star the highest-scoring defender in the Premier League since the start of last season.

This was Romero sixth goal since August 2023.

Meanwhile, Maddison now has 43 Premier League assists in his career, which is one more than the likes of Mikel Arteta, David Ginola and Gianfranco Zola (all 42)

City fans are likely a little disappointed not to have seen any second-half goals yet.

However, the Etihad Stadium crowd just rose as one to applaud Ilkay Gundogan back onto the pitch for the first time since his return from Barcelona.

He replaced Kevin De Bruyne and the former captain's first instruction was for his team-mates to 'calm down'.

It's still 3-1 to City.

Tottenham 4-0 Everton (Son, 78 mins)

Son scores his second of the game following a rapid counter-attack.

The breakaway was led by Micky van de Ven, who looks very much okay after his earlier injury scare.

Spurs look sharp. Everton cannot cope.

Tottenham 3-0 Everton (Romero 71 mins)

Game, set and match Tottenham Hotspur.

There had been a few signs of life from Everton but any hope of a comeback has been extinguished by a third Spurs goal.

James Maddison's corner is powered into the net by Romero's head via the underside of the crossbar.

Fulham 2-1 Leicester (Iwobi 70 mins)

Such a simple goal sees Fulham retake the lead at Craven Cottage.

It was finished off by Alex Iwobi, who raced onto a through pass by Antonee Robinson.

Crystal Palace 0-2 West Ham (Bowen 72 mins)

Like London buses!

West Ham have been much the better side in the second half and they now lead 2-0 thanks to Jarrod Bowen.

Southampton 0-1 Nottingham Forest (Bowen 70 mins)

There are no more 0-0s in the Premier League this afternoon thanks to Morgan Gibbs-White, who has put Forest in front at St Mary's.

His initial headed effort was blocked but the rebound fell kindly to the Forest playmaker.

Crystal Palace 0-1 West Ham (Soucek, 67 mins)

If at first you don't succeed, try try try again!

West Ham failed to hit the target with any of their first 12 shots but Tomas Soucek has fired the Hammers ahead with his side's lucky 13th attempt.

It was a little lucky as well, finding the net via a slight deflection, but West Ham deserve their lead overall.

West Ham have recorded 12 shots against Crystal Palace in the opening hour.

NONE of them have hit the target.

Unsurprisingly, it is still 0-0.

The second half at the Etihad Stadium has been a bit stop-start due to an injury to Mateo Kovacic, who has eventually been subbed off.

Ilkay Gundogan was warming up but Pep Guardiola has brought on John Stones instead.

Good news for Spurs, who had been sweating on the condition of Micky van de Ven just before half-time.

His suspected knee injury was seemingly not that bad because the Dutchman has started the second period and appears to be moving okay.

The games are all back underway.

We had eight first-half goals. Will the second halves deliver even more than that?

The mood around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was very excited and joyous for much of the first half.

However, fans fell silent just before the break when Micky van de Ven stayed down following a clash of legs with Dwight McNeil.

Van de Ven was then seen testing out his knee.

He was not subbed off, despite Radu Dragusin warming up.

But it will be interesting to see if the Dutchman emerges after half-time.

And breathe...

It is eventually given, which feels like an obviously correct decision.

Prior to today, Haaland had scored against all 22 teams he had faced in his Premier League career.

It took just 12 minutes for him to make it 23/23.

Jordan Pickford has his arms raised apologetically after gifting Spurs a second goal.

The Everton keeper took a heavy touch following a back-pass from James Tarkowski and Son Heung-min pounced.

Son nicked the ball of Pickford, who seemed to foul him. But instead of playing for a penalty, the Spurs captain managed to stay on before tapping into an empty net.

Fulham 1-0 Leicester (Smith Rowe, 18 mins)

Emile Smith Rowe is off the mark for his new club.

The former Arsenal midfielder fires Fulham ahead 18 minutes into his home debut with a fabulous finish into the top corner after being set up by Adama Traore.

Ipswich appear to have awoken the beast with their early goal at the Etihad.

Man City now lead 3-1 after scoring three times in five minutes.

After Haaland's spot-kick leveller, Kevin De Bruyne completed the turnaround on 14 minutes.

Haaland then got his second of the game in minute 16. This could be a long day for the Tractor Boys.

Tottenham has dominated the opening quarter-hour against Everton and they deservedly lead thanks to an Yves Bissouma beauty.

Teed up by Dejan Kulusevski the midfielder - back in the team after disciplinary issues - thunders in a shot off the underside of the crossbar from 20 yards.

Ipswich's lead lasted just five minutes.

City level from the penalty spot courtesy of Erling Haaland after Savinho had been fouled by Leif Davis.

It's 1-1 after 12 minutes.

Well, well, well.

City have bossed the first six minutes but it is Ipswich who break the deadlock in the seventh.

Sammie Szmodics scores the Tractor Boys' first Premier League goal in more than two decades after timing his run to perfection.

His shot hit Ederson but still trickled over the line.

Southampton have hardly been idle over the summer if their pre-match show is anything to go by. Tifos, fireworks, paint cannons, giant flags, red-and-white cards across the stands, endless rounds of ‘Oh When The Saints’, and even the obligatory hair-raising video on the big screens. Quite the display from the newly-promoted side - but can they match it on the pitch?

Through the drizzle at Tottenham… Postecoglou’s intentions clear against Everton with a midfield of Kulusevski, Maddison and Bissouma. Up front, there’s a debut for Odobert. Looks like the Spurs boss expects to have plenty of possession against Everton who have an injury crisis on top of all their other well-documented problems. Away fans booed through the Premier League anthem.

Ilkay Gundogan was greeted by huge cheers as he stepped out at the Etihad Stadium for his pre-match warm-up today.

The midfielder, who scored 60 goals and won 14 trophies in 304 appearances during his first spell at Man City, was also applauded by team-mate John Stones!

Today's game is the first meeting between these two sides since January 2002 when City won 4-1 in the FA Cup at Portman Road. Shaun Goater bagged a brace that day.

But Ipswich came out on top the last time they played City in the Premier League.

The Tractor Boys beat City 2-1 at home and 3-2 away in the 2000/01 season. Ipswich also beat City in the League Cup during that campaign.

Ipswich finished fifth in the league that season, while City were relegated after placing 18th.

A lot has changed since then, but City still have a Haaland on their teamsheet - with Erling following in the footsteps of dad Alfie (below, centre).

The first Premier League result of the day is in...

Brighton 2-1 Manchester United.

The Seagulls won today's 12.30pm game in the 95th minute thanks to a headed goal from Joao Pedro.

Brighton had earlier taken the lead courtesy of Danny Welbeck's 100th career club goal.

Amad equalised for United, who were then denied a go-ahead goal when Alejandro Garnacho's shot hit the net via Joshua Zirkzee, who was offside on the line.

New signings Nikola Milenkovic and Elliot Anderson come into the Forest starting XI as Willy Boly and the injured Danilo drop out.

Southampton name the same XI that started last weekend's 1-0 defeat at Newcastle.

Everton's long list of absentees includes Nathan Patterson, James Garner, Seamus Coleman and Jarrad Branthwaite.
