Goodbye!

That's all I'm afraid for today!

It's been a day of reunions in the Premier League rumour mill, with Ilkay Gundogan reportedly pushing for a move back to Man City, and Joao Felix getting closer to a return to Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Oliver Skipp has moved to Leicester City after 16 years at Tottenham.

Speaking of which, the final match of the opening weekend features the two sides and kicks off at 8pm tonight!

See you all tomorrow for what will presumably be another day of transfer madness...

Real Sociedad president: Martin Zubimendi 'staying at the club'

More from Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay, who has been rather outspoken today.

Fresh from revealing that Mikel Merino could leave to Arsenal if the offer was good enough, Aperribay has now shed light on the situation of one-time Liverpool target Martin Zubimendi.

And it doesn't seem like good news for Reds fans...

It seems a reported charm offensive led by manager Imanol Alguacil, with arguments centred around the good food options in the Basque region and the footballer's hobby of hiking up Mount Ulia, has worked wonders.

This deal comes as Leicester City are scheduled to host Spurs for their opening game of the 2024-25 Premier League season tonight

Al-Ahli consider making improved bid for Brentford star Ivan Toney after initial £35m offer was rejected - with striker left out of Thomas Frank's squad at weekend amid interest

Saudi Arabian moneybags Al-Ahli are considering an improved offer for Ivan Toney after having an initial overture of £35million rejected.

Brentford are maintaining an asking price of £60m but Al-Ahli's next offer could land in the range of £45-£50m.

Toney was left out of the Brentford side that pulled off a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday thanks to goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa.

15:38

Chelsea 'closing in on Joao Felix deal' - as the Blues look to seal return of Portuguese star

Talking of reunions, Joao Felix is set to make an emotional return to Stamford Bridge.

Okay maybe that's over-selling it somewhat, but the Portuguese forward did score four goals there and is clearly keen on a move away from Atletico Madrid.

Talks are apparently at the 'final stages' on this one as Chelsea's busy window continues.

15:28

Man City exploring possibility of shock reunion with Ilkay Gundogan

Manchester City are exploring the possibility of a blockbuster reunion with Barcelona's Ilkay Gundogan.

Gundogan left the Etihad Stadium on a free transfer last year but after just 12 months, is open to leaving the Nou Camp.

City have maintained all summer that they are happy with the current squad and any transfer business is likely to come from an unexpected developing situation later in the window.

15:27

Real Sociedad president: 'We will say yes' if offer is right for Mikel Merino

Despite Mikel Arteta remaining coy about it during his press conference on Friday, Arsenal seem determined to land Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad before the window is through.

And now the Spanish side seem to be listening to offers.

Could the Euros winner be on his way to the Emirates?

Earlier it was reported that Pep Guardiola was 'open to a move' for his old charger Ilkay Gundogan as the midfielder seeks a move from Barcelona.

Now it seems that little bit closer - as the champions have reportedly 'made contact' with Gundogan's representatives.

Could we be seeing the treble-winning captain back in a sky blue shirt?

Skipp makes move to Leicester

It's seemed close all day and the two sides have finally got this one over the line.

Earlier on it was reported that Leicester are paying £20million with a further £5m in add-ons for Tottenham midfielder Skipp.

Spurs had been reluctant to lose Skipp, 23, as they look to comply with the Premier League’s homegrown squad rules.

The two sides coincidentally face off tonight in what is the Foxes' first match back in the top flight.

'Brighton make bid for Celtic's Matt O'Riley'

Back down to the south coast, then, and Brighton have made a 'formal bid' for Celtic's Matt O'Riley, Sky Sports are reporting.

The forward scored bags of goals in the Scottish Premiership last season and the Seagulls are believed to have a fight on their hands with Italian side Atalanta for the services of the 23-year-old.

Clearly greedy for goals, Brighton look to be pushing hard to sign the striker - despite thrashing Everton 3-0 on the opening weekend.

He might have last played for the club in 2022, but Romelu Lukaku is still in fact a Chelsea player.

Although not for much longer if the latest reports are anything to go by.

Napoli are in for the Belgian striker who was last spotted scoring 21 goals for Roma last season before enduring a tough Euro 2024 of disallowed goals and missed chances.
